Ok, I have one good 55 gal drum from windshield washer solution that was free and purchased 3 others. The ones I purchased didn't have any caps/bungs in them and the fine bung thread are kind of buggered up. One or more of these could be used to store fuel (gasoline) and the rest will be used to haul inert liquids (rim guard) etc. What would be a good method to fix the thread on the holes or modify the drum to accept standard pluming fixtures?
I've though about use epoxy and a standard 2" pipe to fix the holes.

My plastic drums have 2 bungs. 1 is a course thread. 1 is the standard fine thread. If yours is the same you could just thread in a bung from a steel barrel. This would act as a tap to repair the threads.

I have added fittings to plastic barrels by cutting a hole slightly smaller than the fitting with a hole saw. Then I heat up the fitting with a torch and screw into the hole. Melts the plastic and forms threads. Let cool and unscrew, add a little silicon and screw back in. I have one barrel that I use to haul water in that I added a fitting at the bottom 15 years ago. Still holding up. If you want to add a standard fitting to the top I don't think you would need to add any silicon and if you are using the barrel for fuel I doubt the silicon would hold up.
