Poor Mans Fuel pump

I probably would not be too concerned about using low pressure. But to avoid it, how well would it work if it was placed horizontally and gravity fed?

Use a bicycle air pump, and you will tire before you ever get enough pressure into the barrel to cause any damage. Problem is that too many people here don't understand that some of us do have enough intelligence to do somethings in moderation. Others don't. Separating the two is the most difficult part. Problem as I see it is that some will keep making the same mistake over and over again, and expect a different result each time. Others learn from their mistakes and the mistakes of others the first time. Enough said..

This company does not have a diesel solution (yet), but considering the concept it might work once they do - assuming that you have a diesel pickup or vehicle to use as the source supply tank. Easy pumping; fresh fuel; filtered system; etc...... not sure of the flow rates though..

at $299.99, I think it will be a hard sell for most people.

Champy,
That is a neat concept for someone who doesn't require much fuel. I looked at the Q&A section and noticed some pretty low gpm flow rates.

I applaud the pressure method and would use it if I needed to. I would worry most about things not always being as they seem while doing it. I would try to find a foolproof visual alerting and limiting device to overpressure conditions. An inner tube in parallel would be gould.

Compressed air is definitely handy but my wife won't allow it in the kitchen.

Different plastics are used for different solvents. While yours is ok for alcohol, are you concerned about it being weakened in the long term by diesel? Same concern for the CPVC pipe and garden hose vs neoprene.

jmc,
Only time will tell about the reaction between the different plastics and the fuel but I doubt that I will have an issue. I plan on inspecting the components each time the tank is empty. If something isn't working out then I will try something else. One thing I don't have to worry about is corrosion! As far as the hose is concerned, I used a rubber hose not vinyl so I think that will not be an issue since that is what all fuel hoses are made of.

jejeosbourne, not a rubber water hose, right? They are not a petroleum tolerant rubber.

Larry, I assumed that the hoses are made of rubber since most fuel hoses I have seen are made by goodyear. Maybe they aren't.
