Portable Tractor Camera System

the wireless cam w/magnets may be the answer to my current problem. I could attach cam right to the top of my pallet forks.....to better see when I am trying to lift a pallet of firewood. Tks!

It appears that I probably have the same system as the op. I've got 2 cameras mounted on my dump trailer. One looks straight down the gooseneck so I can hookup by myself without continually jumping in and out. The other looks straight back over the load. When I pick up a load, I have to approach at 90* to the pickup point and back in. The camera helps. There are only 2 problems: 1) The sun shining on the lens washes out the image 2) With the camera on the trailer I really can't tell if both truck & trailer are lined up properly, the camera needs to be on the roof of the truck. A magnetic mount like what's described is what I need, but haven't put it together yet. The display is better than any I've had so far, the system is easy to install and seems to work well.

I'm planning to use a magnetic mount camera on my forks since I can't see them sitting down nor standing up. I just need to get the tips lined up and the blades parallel to the pallet and I'm good to go. The camera will help with that.

... I find it very hard to see what I am doing because of the outside light/snow brightness..etc. dunno...maybe there is something I need to know...??

Maybe try a polarising filter in front of the camera lens?

The wide angle view, as someone mentioned above, is not ideal for many situations. I wonder why the camera manufacturers don't offer options of "normal angle" cameras?
Also, I've found that backup cameras mounted at license plate level are not so great for hooking up trailers. I mounted mine at the top of the pickup tailgate which gives a much better perspective of how close to the trailer tongue.

What a great solution!!

I'm curious - where did you get the "receptacle" for the battery? Is there a DeWalt part number for that? Most of my battery powered tools are Ridgid. I wonder if they have something like that?

I sometimes use two cameras when working with pallets. I put one on the forks and the other on the ground near the pallet or attach it to the metal support rack holding the pallets. The possibilities are endless unless you "end" the camera by running over it.

I decided to palletize my cordwood this year...after many years of throwing it in my trailer to bring inside to my woodstove area, as needed throughout the burning season....a lot of handling. The palletization was a huge success....but the forks on my tractor are hard to see while loading the pallet onto the forks.....so...I decide to install a camera system on my Kubota. Maybe the cheap camera I bought is the problem but I find it very hard to see what I am doing because of the outside light/snow brightness..etc. dunno...maybe there is something I need to know...?? I use the camera image a little but find it just takes practice and doing it by 'feel' is the best way so far... Does anyone have a similar experience?

Cameras with a hood can help with image washout. Some more expensive models have the ability to use lens filters. The portable camera system lets you place it where ambient light is less of a problem. It doesn't have to be mounted to the tractor. Sometimes placing it on the ground nearby or even on the implement will give a clearer image.
