Thavil, go drive the unit on the dealers lot and see what you think before handing over your baby for surgery :p

I was sitting on the tractor last night and played with the hydro pedals a bit. With the engine off, I pressed each pedal and slipped my foot off to the side. Allowing the pedal to move on its own from forward to neutral is noticeably slower than from reverse to neutral. I am quite tempted to crawl underneath and take a closer look at the damper cylinder that's connected to the pedal linkage. I'd have to think that a damper that damps in both directions (or another one in parallel but reversed) may help.

I sent an e-mail to the proprietor of BXpanded a few weeks ago suggesting that an external kit for this problem may be a potential new product for him. Here is his e-mail: contact@bxpanded.com

At the expense of quoting myself, does anyone think my idea of using a dampener cylinder has merit??

Thanks for the concern you guys have mentioned about them doing the work. I just spoke with my dealer and he's probably coming out Saturday after he closes his shop. I asked him to go ahead and do the "fix" since the "fix" is totally reversable. I finally got to ask him questions on the actual work to be performed and it will take me longer to take off my read skid plate than for him to do the work.

I think I got the jist of the work, so please don't beat me up too badly if I misquote what he said. The fix is only shortening the pilot relief valve spring that is located near the HST filter. He said this will lower the psi from 110 to 85 and this is supposed to make the abrupt stop smoother. He will be bringing new springs, so if this doesn't help, he can just put my old spring back in. He also mentioned that this won't affect any other hydraulic funtion on my tractor or foward/reverse speed.

More to come...

Thanks :)

This is another one of those problems (like the L3400 jerky 3pt) that we've just don't run into out in the wild. I agree that there is merit to it, but I've never had a non-TBN customer complain about jerkyness. I count myself in the group that likes when a tractor (or RTV) stops quickly. As someone who jumps from one machine to the next all day long I find myself getting a bit too close to things when the HST is too forgiving.

With all do respect for your opinion, what you need to do is go out in your lot, grab a tractor, any tractor. Put it in reverse and back into your building. If thats what you like then the BX 50 series is for you. I'm very sick of Kubota reps. and Kubota dealers making up excuses for something that should not be. No one in the wild is doing that. I really don't need Kubota people jerking me around about this. After all I have one of there BX tractors with the jerk standard equipment.

Neil, I agree with you to a point. In low range, the quick stop is doable and probably saved me a few times from hitting something. High range in reverse is a totally different story and can be dangerous to someone's neck. IMHO, the reason non-TBN customers haven't complained to you is because they might not know any better. Most BX owners are like me, never owned a tractor before. If they've never driven one without this stop issue, they would just think this is normal.

Thavil - is your dealer the one closest to you? If so, he is the same as mine.

Am very curious how it works out even though the reverse issue doesn't bother me much, yet...

Let me know if you'd prefer I keep this thread out of it if I decide to discuss it with them.
