A piece of tool box liner should keep you from sliding off. And you don't have to wear those silly pants. ;)

Best solution is getting rid of the forward tilt of the seat. I wear real pants (Wranglers) most of the time. The 4240 has an upholstered seat. It isn't as slippery as the vinyl seats on the previous two Kubotas. That doesn't solve the problem. It creates Problem #2 outlined below.

Problem #1 is slipping forward on the seat. If the solution to Problem #1 is doing something to get traction on the seat, it creates Problem #2. That would be the discomfort of having one's trousers stay put when one's body wants to keep moving forward. Kinda reminds me of when the hotel in town wanted to economize. They eliminated the ballroom.

Just curious: is this the same seat that shipped with BX machines for a while? That was hideous. I was ready to demand that the dealer haul the BX24 & accessories away when Kubota offered a $25 replacement seat. Been parking my elderly bodunkus on that for 10+ years and it's been fine.

The seat is the part I like least about my otherwise fine B2910. Besides using the seat belt, I got a memory foam seat cushion that's great. Mine is from "Everlasting Comfort" but I've also heard good thing about a similar one (with a gel layer, too) from Comfi-Life. Smooths the bumps and much less slippery.

My old M5030 seat would cause tailbone pain mowing or haying. Used a kitchen chair cushion with anti slip bottom helped a lot. The newer tractors seats are better but don’t do the long hours anymore. Do think I need to tilt back and space up just a bit on rubber blocks would help ergonomically. Impressed with what others said about seat covers so ordered a Durafit cover off Amazon to try.

I replaced my BX seat with an aftermarket version after driving mine from one end of my property to the other and needing a chiropractor afterward. Ridiculous that any company would put the OEM seat on anything. My first Murray garden tractor had a better seat.

I loved my smaller John Deere tractors (3020), the platform slopes up at the clutch and brakes and you can brace your feet.

I've put over 1,000 hours on my B7800, in which case I think I have enough seat time to comment on this...

I had this very problem with the factory seat. Put up with it until the rails finally broke. I bought a replacement seat from NorthernTool (about $100 at the time). I've likely put at least about 400 hours on it and can state that it's FAR superior to the stock and that you really don't slip off. Note that I don't have a lot of slopes, so can't really comment on how that works out: but one should be wearing a seatbelt in such situations, so slipping around in the seat is less likely (the seatbelt, however is another thing I have a beef with- it readily tensions and after a while you find that you're being over-cinched and have to release the belt and refasten).

Double back sticky tape?
Or
Velcro on your butt?

Does Northern Tool still offer that seat? Did the bolt holes line up or did you have to improvise?

I replaced the seat on my B2710 with a Northern Tool seat and it was a huge improvement. I think this is the same seat, or at least pretty close. I've had mine for about 10 years. It did require a bit of fabrication to get the bolt holes to work, I used slotted angle. It also doesn't tip forward, something I really miss because it had that little tool box under the seat that I can't use anymore. That also complicates using the PTO without being in the seat, like if you want to use a log splitter. I modified mine so the engine will still die if I'm not in the seat, but I left a little pigtail that I can use to jumper the safety out, so I can get out of the seat and the engine and PTO will work.

Looks like they do:

I don't recall having to do any modifications. But, I seem to recall cussing a bit. So, if they're still the same, yes, the holes line up (but one has to play around a bit).

Pretty sure that you'll be happy with this seat. It's nothing special other than it just works (and it's cheap). The drain holes are a plus.

Thank you. Having it fit on a B7800, like mine, makes it better. For a tractor that's primarily a lawnmower, it will be just fine. Cussing during installation is OK.

Beezfun--great seat but more than I want to spend on a mower. Tractor, yes. Thank you.

Mikester--Grammer is no doubt the best. I have a cab tractor with one and a Grasshopper as well and both are as good as it gets. Thank you.

Hmmm?? All the suggestions for seat covers, and not a single pic...

Until this thread, never heard of or thought of sliding off a seat. Just doesn't happen.

I've never had enough of a "slipping" situation to really call it a problem. I was given a foam "seat warmer". Just lay it down on the seat and sit on it. Kind of nice on really cold days - my M6040 is open station.

I DID notice - when I use this chunk of foam - there is absolutely no slipping, anywhere, what so ever.

Could be a quick, cheap answer. www.therm-a-seat.com Made in the USA. Lawrence, MA. It's what they call their fishing cushion. $9.99.
