I just purchased a 3-PH Post Hole Digger by Hole King Model PH-64 -- It works great but I think it is an antique and probably worth a good deal to the right person.

Anyone know how old this is and if the following manufacture is still in business?

E. L. Caldwell & Sons, Inc.
Corpus Christi, Texas

Looks like a post hole digger to me.

Not sure if there really is an antique market for something like that. I would guess it is worth $250 - $300 if it is in usable condition.

I paid $295 for my brand new Lienbachline with a 12 inch aguer when I bought my tractor 3 years ago. The dealer said that was at his cost and he wasn't making a profit on it, but wanted to make the deal on the tractor.

An old one like that in quesionable condition wouldn't be worth very much at all I'd think.

Check ebay and see what people are paying for old, used ones.

Beauty is often in the eye of the beholder. I've seen a lot of junk in antique stores that I would have charged double to haul to the dump.

It works very well... I was just wondering if there was a market for antique PHD's... Especially if they worked well. I was hoping someone from Corpus Christi would remember this manufacture and be able to give me some info. However... I will use these if there isn't a market for them. I was sure if a collector of antique tractors saw them they could possibly be interested in them. Thanks for the input.

A lot of truth to that statement. I have seen Older tractors, cars and such sell for many times their original cost to the right person.

Looks like about $200.00 worth to me, If you paid any less you probably got a good deal, If you paid much more you probably should have bought a new one. Heres what you need to grab hold of if you run acros one. Old COLE planter. This one was an old horse/mule planter but works with the high back cultivator

Hey!! I know where there is one of these located. I wasn't sure if I could make it work with my 3 PH... Maybe you could help me set it up. I am not sure it was in working order or not. I saw it when I purchased PHD's

How much would it be worth and about how much would it cost to convert it to a 3PH?

to make it work you need a high back cultivator, not one like you posted in the pic needing plow shovels for, it is a roundback. It will bolt right to it. If you can buy it cheap and it is not rusted from fertilizer, buy it. The most important thing is washing the fertilizer hopper out after each use and oiling the inside. Also it has a gear than needs to be greased. If it has been taken good care of and not frozen up it is worth a good penny. A new one is about 700.00 for just the planter.
