Hello .I purchased A TMG-TPD 12 that says rated for 35 to 65hp tractors at this time I want to use it on my Kioti CK25 class 1 25hp tractor. Will there be a problem it is much heavier than smaller phd but I like things over built in case I move up in tractor or want to lend to neighbors with class 2 tractors.bad mistake or what .any opinions ? TIA

My machine is 31Hp engine and 26Hp PTO. Your machine has the power .... HOWEVER,

The key isn't just having the PTO power. It's the ability to raise and lower the PHD up and out of the hole and then drilling down to make the next hole.

SCUT and small height profile rear wheel on tractors prevent from ever using a PHD on a machine. So keep in mind the tire profile height and the 3PT lfit distance. It all matters.

This wasn't my design, I seen PHD mount a few ways, and this goal post method is the easiest to make, to use and cheap !
The top bar has 8-inch long lag bolts that sit in holes at the top of each post.

Take the top beam off, back the tractor to center the PHD. Raise the 3PT all the way up. Slide the top beam under the PHD elbow. Place the lag bolts in the 2 holes. Lower the PHD. Disconnnect from the tractor. To mount, the PHD just do the reverse. :)

Great post. Thanks so much. I do like that design. I have mounted the post hole digger with everything on it but the auger and it lifts up and down fine I will be trying it next week. Will keep you posted. I think I will build that goalpost like that it looks like a good idea, thanks again I will not be attaching the hydraulic assist on this tractor

Wow, bmaverick. I like that idea as well.
I borrowed my buddies' PHD over the summer and he helped me load it into the back of the truck. Not my first time using, but definitely first time attaching one to a tractor before. I didn't think much about it until I had to unload it and then attach to my 3 month old (at the time) tractor by myself. It was a good reminder that I'm no longer 25.

This file is a couple of weeks old but still maybe active. I have used a ford 2000 (30 HP) for many years digging post holes up and including a 12" auger, usually using a 9". My method is at low speeds and since HP = torque x RPM basically, if the speed is slow the HP required to drive it is low.

The 2000 had enough weight on the front to keep from having problems, if they should occur while in the hole and full of dirt. If you have a FEL loader that should suffice and if not fill it with dirt or something.

If you get the auger stuck and the tractor can't lift it out, get a pipe wrench and cheater bar and "unscrew it". If you use an up and down motion, screwing and lifting 6" give or take of depth at a time, getting stuck isn't a problem.

I've never found hooking up a 3 point auger difficult, even the first time I did it ...
