Soundguy,

My latest page loads are: "Page generated in 0.16563 seconds with 10 queries."

If you look at that line at the bottom of the page, it will have the time TBN is requiring. If the number if low, as mine is, but the actual time you experience is high, 3 or more seconds, especially a long time, it is something happening on your service provider or the Net in general.

Keep us posted.

Hmm.. may have been something on the net.. but not my connection... I was browsing other sites just fine.

Also just got a 'new post' email about this post:

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87584&goto=newpost

and it's way old.. WAY old...

In the "old" board (which is really old now), there was a "View All" link on the list of threads. Now, for multi-page threads, there's only the page numbers, and a "Last Page".
I find a "View All" link very useful, since it allows me to go to a thread, read it all, scroll around, and always just us ethe Back button to get back to the thread list. Also, I'd rather wait an extra second or two for the whole thread to load, rather than have to interrupt reading the thread every few posts for the next page to load.

Now, I have to go through the pages, and of course, the Back button doesn't take me back to the thread list - I have to press Back multiple times, each time waiting for a re-render.
I've learned to use the forum jump at the bottom to jump back top the forum I was on after reading a multi-page thread, but the View All option was much easier for me.

I appreciate the ability to view pages individually, especially for those on dial-up.

Well new post notifications are a separate issue from slow page loads... so...

Look at that line at the bottom of the page, it will have the time TBN is requiring. What is that number on the page or pages you are now loading?

The pages are back to magically loading up in about 3 seconds now. Number at the bottom of the page is;

Page generated in 0.14091 seconds with 16 queries

For the last couple of days when I leave a forum and go back to the main index I get a security warning. It says Windows has blocked this software because it can't verify the publisher. The name it gives is swflash.cab. TBN is the only place I have this problem.

For the heck of it.. go to yout tools section on IE ( if that is what you are using ). Manage add-ons. Disable macromedia.. and see what happens..

Iam using AOL which i beleive uses explorer. I went to tools-manage add-ons and macromedia was not listed. I ran Norton antivirus and found nothing. Then I cleared temp.internet filesand now I get a different warning. adobie flash player.

/ Post Questions/Problems In This Thread #188
Ahh.. then disable that one. Most people are using macromedia as a flash player.. however adobie is another big one.

Adobe owns Macromedia.

Hmm.. My IE still reports just plain macromedia as a flash player plug in the manage add on section. ( no mention of adobie ) I have not installed the latest upgrade that probably changes the reported name ( and also may have a few problems in it like this other user has experienced... )

Even though Adobe owns Macromedia, the product still show Macromedia, e.g. the latest version of Dreamweaver, Version 8, still shows as a Macromedia product.

This morning I clicked on the "Manage Attachments" button to add a photo to my post. I could see the attachments dialog box appear for a short instant on the screen and then disappear. Repeated clicking on the button produced the same results. I exited Explorer and restarted, but the results were the same.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? I just tried again with this post and it does the same.

I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Seems to be working normally for me.

Thanks Bird. I'm now at work and clicking on "Manage Attachments" calls up the normal dialog window. It must be something with my system at home. I'll check it again this weekend.

Check to see if you have a pop up blocker. Some internet service providers give you one for free.. and periodically 'upgrade' it.. perhaps you just got one...

Chris, that was the problem. I checked last Friday after I got home. After turning the blocker off, everything worked normally. My wife was also able to print from her hotmail account. That had quit working on her too. The blockers were the result of a Yahoo! toolbar installation.

I'm not sure how to explain the few oddities that have been occurring lately but I'll give it my best...

Tonight after logging on, I noticed that this is the first time that the thread reply box has shown ALL the options...smilies, spellcheck, Bold, Italic, Underline, colors, etc. I'm familiar with this type of software...I've used it before...yet none of the advanced options were ever available, no matter if I used "Quote" "Post Reply" or "Quick Reply". I even tried the basic, standard and advanced interface...same results with each. I always keep it at standard if it matters

Next, load time varies. Most of the time it's instant(I have DSL), but sometimes(only recently, like in the last week) it hangs and other times, "page cannot be found". Doesn't matter if I'm using IE or Mozilla Firefox, it will happen on both. Maybe this is a problem with MY ISP?? However I can switch to another open window and access anything/anywhere instantly, except TBN. If I wait a few minutes, everything is fine again.

Last but not least, during the unexpected hang time, when the page finally loads, it's in a different format(??) Like maybe it switches from standard to basic editor by itself? edited to add: If someone can explain how to take a screenshot and post it, I'll do it next time it happens.
FWIW...I just experienced the hang time again and (TBN)page could not be found while trying to post this.

I'm wondering if they had a short outage a little while ago. I couldn't get TBN to load at all for a little while. All is working fine now.
