Yepp mine sits outside under a tarp...if your buying that size tractor most would assume you have plenty of land to store it on.
I would reread what everyone has suggested before you dismiss it...if all your doing is mowing and snowblowing you could save a lot of money and buy a Craftsman Lawn tractor and a snowblower attachment....

Oh and your prices look average....so go with either one...

Dyer...thanks for your great comments. Very useful for me. However, how do the prices look that I was quoted ?

DG

DG,

Sorry about that. The post that I first sent did respond to your question about the prices ("they looked fine to me") but I should have been more precise. I bought my BX1800 in 2003 for $9,995.00 with a 54 in. mmm installed as part of that price. You would be getting a newer tractor (probably some decent upgrades since 2003 on the 1850) with the same sized deck for less money. I only included comment about the snowblower because you had mentioned that you intended on mowing and removing snow, so my response got off your main topic of price quotes. Dyer, retired

Completely agree with Keith. If I had to choose between FEL and hp, FEL would be no-brainer.

I think this gent lives near McKean. If that's so, a crapsman would last maybe half the snow season

Keith, I resent that statement :D How do you think I paid for the machine the first year?:p

Delta, how was the steelhead fishing this winter? We did pretty well late fall despite low water conditions on the elk.

JAnd if you're not careful, it will sound like you're calling the rest of us a bunch of idiots with money to burn.

To be quite frank with you Keith, I'm tired of being "careful". I'm not very politically correct and I don't plan on being so here. However, when I asked for opinions on prices, I received many, many comments on spending MORE money. Now if you feel like an idiot with money to burn, that's on you. However, not one soul who suggested adding accessories cared to comment on my original thread. Now, if I'm concerned about the $1,200.00 diff between an 18 and a 23, why would I be entertaining thought of adding an FEL and a bucket, etc ?

I understand that people can be passionate about things they enjoy or believe in. But if you think I'm going to worry about your feelings, you're absolutely wrong ! Perhaps you can suggest a manner in which I could have expressed my thoughts without "offending" you ? Personally, I'm pretty sick and tired of the entire American society being "offended".

BTW...since we're all anonymous here, one shouldn't be too concerned about another's perception....why, we're all anonymous !

I thank you for your input and your criticism. But I'm not overly concerned about your feelings.

DG,

I don't know how long you plan to own this tractor, but the initial purchase cost is really irrelevalent. With Kubotas of the BX range you may find a couple of hundred dollars difference as new from different dealers. The real cost is when you sell the thing. Now, I am the idiot that said consider a BH. I can guarantee that 10 years from now a BX with a FEL and BH will be worth far more than the difference in those accessories today. Like someone else said, been there, done that.

For your requirements, a box store John Deere, Club Cadet or Craftsman would be a better choice, honestly. Why would you pay for a tractor that has a 3-point hitch and hydraulics designed for a BH and FEL when you don't intend to use those features?

You ask a question about price and you receive all sorts of advice about which implements to add. Nothing new, it happens all the time. Makes for some good reading and provides some entertainment. I've been guilty of doing it a few times also. My problem, many times I read the original question then after a few pages of various unrelated answers I tend to forget or missunderstand the question. We all do it and mean no harm. Ask your questions, sort out the useable answers, and enjoy this forum contributed by a lot of fine people who are willing to provide well intended information. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I paid $12,700 for a 23 with a FEL (added a tooth bar) and a 54" MMM. I've had some issues with this tractor beginning as early as 2 hours. First, the engine would not turn off by the key-pinched wiring harness and was quickly resolved by the dealer- Messick's in Elizabethtown, PA.
Now, 5 visits later, I still cannot get the thing to stop moving when I let off the HST. Not everytime, but often enough that I get complacent and then run into something.
It runs hot when mowing and the hour meter is beginning to flip out occaisionally.
And it would not start under 30 degrees.
I'd be hard pressed to recommend a Kubota product right now, but I'd happily sell you this 37 hour example for $11,500!

That was my point why buy a tractor that can handle all kinds of attachments if you don't plan to ever need them. A Home Depot John Deere will last a long time and be a lot cheaper.

I consider myself to be less than PC but there is a difference between speaking your mind and just being plane rude. Folks here are just trying to be helpful. You can choose to either listen to there advice or dismiss it. The response you got would be the same if you had asked a group of tractor owners hanging around the shop or a country fair or wherever. Its just the way conversations go.

So in the future should you post I would expect a similar response because the folks on here are passionate about tractors and we have LOTS of opinions many you may not agree with...

My sincerest of apologies, Mr. Drtydeed. I wasn't talking about YOU! I love you, man!

Really. If I own a tractor like this, I need to justify it. And I think I have by having one of the nicest yards/lawns/plots in the neighborhood in a short 2 years. If the guy across the street has 2 acres and doesn't even own a string trimmer (and has no desire to), that is GREAT. If he has a nicer lawn that me, EVEN BETTER. I was simply speaking to the point that I have this machine and I LOVE to use it to better my estate. Justification for the expense was my only point.

I really hope as many folks line your pockets as humanly possible. If I didn't have a tractor and a good back, I'd stand in line.

That's just not cool, man. I've seen some real weiner statements in this forum, but that really takes the cake. Just because you're standing there tallking on the other side of an inpenetrable wall, it is OK to say whatever you want? That is a really screwed up way of looking at things.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you can be my friend.

Now you're starting to torque me off a little. I concede that there had not been an opinion passed on your original question. I guess we're just a dastardly bunch that does whatever we can to be as NOT helpful as possible.

But PLEASE do me the favor of looking at my earlier post. My point was that if you WERE concerned about the price difference and didn't have any extra to spend but you COULD swing the extra for the 2350, SMART MONEY would NOT purchase the 2350. SMART MONEY would purchase the 1850 with a FEL for about the same price. Or at least that is my opinion. Others may disagree, as I said, but I was trying to give you honest feedback.

If you didn't have such a problem with the cranial-rectal inversion, perhaps you would have seen the input here for what it is. HELP. ASSISTANCE. INPUT. EXPERIENCE. THOUGHTS. OPINIONS. QUESTIONS. STATEMENTS. ANSWERS.

If you don't want any of it, why'd you come?
