LOL, I'll tell him the next time I see him. At the moment he is interested in boats, before that motorcycles. It may take getting a backhoe to get him back for awhile ;)

BTW, you can follow his latest thing on youtube, make sure you leave a message saying more tractor videos. :)

Thank for the informatiom. Will call today and order the parts. as for hyd power, my tractor has two pumps. The one in front for fel and one for the 3pt. should the suplly be taken under the seat and tap into both the supply and return line with a tee fitting? You said yours was in series? Just asking Iam not clear on this. Thanks

I think you should have those open ports under the seat like shown in the post. I think that's the same feed as the 3PH. Having a separate pump for the loader will make for smoother power steering if you use the one under the seat. I only have the motor pump, it feeds my loader first, then the power beyond from my loader valve goes to my power steering and after that the 3PH. No T's anywhere on mine, a T on a feed will mess with your pressure but you can T a return. The issue I have with running in series is when using my loader I lose most of my power steering and the same goes for my 3PH when using power steering. This is only an issue when trying to do more than one at the same time. I'm planning on adding a car power steering pump to the engine so I have constant power steering, there's at least one post on here showing one setup this way.

Mike, the ports under my seat are used for the 3pt. and I'm afraid to over tax the system. Since I last posted I purchased a power steering box from another TBN member. Like you I hope to install a auto power steering pump. In order to install this unit will require many modifications.I will take photos and post my progress. On the set up you have how much travel is their on the spool valve and is it possible for you to post a close up photo of valve. Thanks

Fbson395, I'm not sure what you are asking on the travel part. The valve on the cylinder only moves in and out maybe 3/8 of an inch. The cylinder itself is around 16 inches I think, I would have to measure it. My setup is posted in the link within my signature. Is one of those pictures helpful? I can take other pics if needed.

Mike, Thanks for the quick response. I'm trying to find out about the spool valve. Tried to buy the kit from Rick Davis and he was out of stock. The one part that I can't seem to see clearly is the spool valve. The steering wheel turns the steering arm and does that arm move the spool valve? and that travel is only 3/8"? Do you a part number for the spool valve? Where can one be purchased? Any Help would be appreciated.

Wait? I went back and looked at Bostonrats photos. I think I now got it! The spool valve has to be on top of the cyl.and travel with it. So the steering arm only needs to change the directions of travel of the cyl. and the drag arm moves the full travel 4" to 5".Ok, I did not see that before. Thanks for the help Now I got it.
Thanks Again,
Bill

Right, the valve is actually welded to the cylinder. If you look closely you can see the 1/4" metal hydraulic lines going from the valve to the cylinder. As you move the steering wheel, the arm pushes or pulls on the valve to send fluid to the side of the cylinder needed which of course makes the wheels move and the cylinder moves with it because the steering knuckle side is a fixed distance. The beauty of this system is even if the hydraulics are dead you still have some steering control.

So did you call Rick Davis? From what I understood, he had them made as needed. It's been a few years now so maybe things have changed. I'm not sure how much searching you have done on TBN but there are a few people who have added P/S to their B6100/7100's. Some setups are pretty ingenious and list what they used for parts.

Hi, Yes, I called rick and the spool valve is not in stock. The valve comes from a overseas supplier. He but me on a list and will call when the part is in stock. I can find all the parts Needed elsewhere but just not sure about that spool valve. What is the dia. of the rod that comes out of the spool valve? How is the drag arm attached to the spool valve.
have a New Years!
