I paid less than $12,600 for mine with two buckets, teeth, forks, 60" finish mower, 48" brush hog, power angle snow blade and loading ramps AND delivered from Virginia to Indiana. And where is his ROPS/canopy?

It DOES have the Kohler engine, though...

Moss, ROPS does not come standard on the 422. I had to pay extra to get mine.

Trogger, the 422 now has only one steering cylinder. (It used to have two, one on each side) The 425 has two. Just another difference, not major, but I prefer balanced forces when steering.

I emailed the seller of the unit on E-bay, mentioned above, and he does have the ROPS & canopy. It is a 425, but those hours, & as mentioned no expensive attachments except for the tiller, it is definitly not a bargain. In my case I don't even want most of the attachments he has.

The canopy is not shown. Did he just take it off or are those pictures of another machine?

Didn't get that deep into the subject, just wanted to know if it really was a 425 & if he had the ROPS. I just assumed it was taken off for whatever reason.

Blowing up the photo shows the PT425 decal on the side. Also, shows the area where the ROPS was removed. I'm pretty sure it is what it is advertised as, although I'd like to know what year it was and see some close ups of the engine compartment, front lift, etc...

A while back there was a used PT advertised somewhere as a PT425. Someone asked my opinion of it. We blew up the photo and it looked pretty clear that someone touched up the area of the decal and removed the PT4XX markings on the side of the engine cover and just greyed them out with big, fat, square pixels. I was not convince the unit was actually a PT425, so I suggested they get a picture of the serial number from the seller and call PT to confirm the machine's orgins, etc... Not sure how that one turned out.

I just can't fathom the idea of it being worth more now than when it was brand new...

Are PTs becoming collector's items? :D :D :D

KentT: My thoughts also, just too much money.
MR: There was a PT on the PT used equipment site a while back, advertised as a 425, pictured with no ROPS, that I followed up on. Turns out it was a 422 with a 25 HP engine in it. The guy thought that made it a 425!

In 2001 when I bought mine, that DID make it a PT425 if you added the ROPS! :D

The only difference was the 22 vs 25HP motor and ROPS included, unlike today, where the unit is longer, two steering rams, higher lift capacity, stronger wheel motors, etc....

I wonder how much more pushing force you get with the 25 horsepower engine versus the 22.

With the same, old-style wheel motors, my guess is that the difference in pushing force is minimal, since there isn't that much to begin with....

I'm guessing where it would be most noticeable would be applications that require high PTO flow in addition to steering, etc.
