Re: Power Trac PT425 Snow Blade Works Great

When we got home last night, the sidewalk and driveway were clear, just wet. Two hours later there was 5 inches on them. I almost went out and did it then, but wanted to wait until morning to see how much snow the PT would handle. Man, I was surprised when I looked out there this morning! Over all, it looked like about 14 inches in the yard.

MossRoad, did you have to switch to the bucket to move the snow up and back?
Have been watching your web site and nothing new posted. No new projects with your 425?

Re: Power Trac PT425 Snow Blade Works Great

Didn't need the bucket. The blade can be tilted back so far that it almost becomes a scoop. That, coupled with the loader arms, makes it easy to pile up snow pretty high.

Have started fabricating my trailer hitch. Made many ugly arc welds last weekend. Also got my Oxy/Acetylene tanks filled for the first time in 5 years. Decided it was a good time to re-read my Oxy/Acetylene handbook. I'm now looking for a hand help grinder to clean up some things. I'll post pictures when it's all done.

Re: Power Trac PT425 Snow Blade Works Great

Will look forward to seeing your work. I went to Cabellas and looked at their 4 way. Then to Northern Tool and their hitches. There seems to be no shortage of new and used equipment. Probably will go with a used hitch and weld onto the plate. This past week I have been talking with experts on welding equipment and type to buy. Half the fun is the research.

Re: Power Trac PT425 Snow Blade Works Great

By the time that storm gets to Maryland, it will be reduced to "occasional flurries". I can't even induce it to snow by taking the snow blade off the Power Trac. The snow gods know it only takes 30 seconds to put it back on.

Re: Power Trac PT425 Snow Blade Works Great

I think it only snowed here because I had the welding tanks filled. I weld out in my driveway, not in a building. Well, at least they got the forecast right this time. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: Power Trac PT425 Snow Blade Works Great

The snow was a bit deceiving. I didn't think we had that much until I got home tonight and cleared the sidewalk, which hadn't been touched thus far. I'd say at least a foot /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Heavy and wet on the bottom since the ground is still warm. My little Craftsman was struggling a bit, but the JD is too wide for the sidewalk. Plenty of fun, but after the warm spell we've had I guess I'm ready for spring to be here /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

We're going sledding at Elbel Saturday. After that, I hope it melts. I want to plant some spinach and radishes.

Re: Power Trac PT425 4\' Brush Hog Works Great

Here's a picture of the brush that I was cutting in my lower field a few weeks ago. This is after two passes with the 4' brush hog. You can see a highway gardrail about 150 yards in the background. This field is mostly heavy adrian muck about 20 feet lower than the road. It is usually very moist, hence the good weed growth. The wees are very thick and over 5' high. I threw in the family for scale /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.
