Barry I was just wondering did you go through the same decision making when you got the pt418? Now with that in mind watch out pt1430 here comes Barry ,just joking about that. Another question though didn't you say that you were thinking about starting a landscape business ? If you are still considering this maybe a little overkill for your personal needs might be a good idea since your customers might need a job done that would require a little extra umph.
Good memory concerning the landscaping business. I have since decided not to pursue that and do something else, or there wouldn't have been any second guessing which PT to get. Also if I had a few more acres to maintain, a 1430 would be an option right about now. ;)

Just waiting until spring / summer I'm in no big hurry at the moment. I'm still deciding between a 422 or 425 not sure just yet. Still asking myself why I would need a 425 when the 422 seems to be able to do almost anything the 425 can do.

For my situation I really don't need the extra wheel torque or lift height. I don't have a lot of steep hills and I don't use it to mow or bush hog. The only sticking point in my mind might be the single ram versas the double ram and the durability. Other than that I'm sure either machine would be just fine.

You made the right choice, better to be safe on those hills no tractors worth getting hurt over. ;) It's just a shame you had to go through all of head aches with the leaks and other problems. That's why I won't buy used, at least not in a Power Trac. I figure they come with enough little flaws / bugs when there brand new. In the end you still have a fine capable looking machine there.

I don't know if they would tell you, but you might want to call PT and ask if they anticipate a price increase between now and next Summer. You might end up spending as much for a 422 than as you would for a 425 now. I bought my 1430 for 13,000 and after that they went to 16G in a hurry. Just something to think about.

Not to highjack this thread but, I was thinking the same thing good point. I wonder if PT would be honest and even tell me or give me a date.

I probably should have been a little clearer.

In the past, they have announced price increases ahead of implementing them, and I think they have informed prospective purchasers during phone conversations and plant visits, but I don't know whether they will admit they are simply considering an increase.

Well it's worth a try anyway. I'll post if I get any usable information in case someone else is interested. : eek:

When I was contemplating purchasing a new 1430, it was December and I was not going to purchase until Spring if I bought one. They build their PT models in batches so I asked them to notify me if they were getting low in stock or if the price was going to rise. They said they would.

For anyone else buying a PT... I just talked to Kristy at Power Trac, she said she's not sure yet, but she expects some sort of price increase on the first of Jan. She didn't seem to think it would be a lot but, she has no way of knowing the details as of now. She said she would contact me around Dec 3rd to let me know the specifics if there were an increase.
