The vast majority of the time .. same here... Only a few rare cases did I get some relief.. they were brass bolts into a steel casting holding down an inspection cover to a chain drive box on a piece of heavy equipment. I'll bet half the bolts backed out when the bit grabbed...
No super luck with the easy outs.. though have had them accidentally function a time or too. Mostly ZI have just had to drill them out going up a 64th or 32nd at a time hoping to miss the parent metal.. then getting a dental pick or oring probe to pick the threads out and pray i drilled straight
