The place I get from has their prices listed on their site. Right now its $1.46

Central Ohio Farmers Co-op

I just got a flier in the mail from them offering 1.29 for summer fillup and 1.59 lockin price for the season. Might have to burn propane instead of wood this winner vs. 2.19/gallon last winter.

Wow, they just dropped their prices since my last post. With electric rates rising and propane comming down again, I think I'll have to up the temp on when my heat pump kicks on. I currently have it @ 20 degrees, which was perfect when propane was ~$2/gal and my electric rates were 8-9 cents. Now electric rates are closer to 12:mad: 3 or so years ago, when electric rates were low and propane was high, propane wasnt much better than straight electric resistance heat. Now propane is less than half the cost vs electric:thumbsup:

I checked prices with a different supplier at a rental when the renters moved out about month ago and it seemed like they were still in the $2 range. The tank was only down about 17% from their move -in on a 250 gallon tank so it wasn't a huge amount to deduct .

$1.35 here off the truck a bit cheaper to pre-pay.

I said I wasn't going to sign the fixed price contract since I signed one last year @ $2.09 and propane promptly went down to $1.65 and I paid the 2.09 all winter. I figure @ this price will save me $74 a 100 g so why not I did it @ $1.35 for 1000 g.

Filled up on 6/7/12 - total was $218.32 (this includes fuel recovery fee and HAZMAT fee) for 59.4gallons so about $3.675 per gallon here in Western PA.

Pretty much in line with what I paid earlier this month. A couple years ago we shopped around for a different supplier...one came out to inspect and found a half dozen or so "code violations" that would need to be "corrected" before they'd take us on. Funny, our current supplier doesn't seem to have a problem with any of those items.
As someone else noted, most if not all the companies around here use their own tanks, and are kind of snippy about customer-owned ones, so unlike oil, changing propane suppliers is a major hassle.

OTOH, we use <150g/yr (just stove & HW heater), so there's no quantity discount.

Hey Oaktree- we are in the same boat as you. Since we use wood as our primary heat source the propane furnace only runs if it is extremely cold or we are away from home for a couple of days. We cook and heat hot water with it too. Our annual usage is around 150 gal so a volume discount is out of the question. I've been calling our supplier every couple of weeks for the last couple of months and our delivery price has remained steady at $3.19 per gal. Today, however, they offered me a "pre-buy" of 150 gal @ $2.29 per ... I have until next April 30th to take delivery of that gas at that price so I'm pretty happy.

The folks in the office said that they aren't allowed to advertise the price available, but when existing customers call in they are glad to supply the information. They all get pretty tired of passing along bad news (price increases) to customers and delight in having pleasant conversations with happy people. You might try calling your local supplier and inquiring about something similar?

Good luck.

Just paid $1.50 in western Kentucky. The prices here vary a lot. One place was $2.50! Most were around $1.70

I sure was hoping for the under a buck prices some are finding.

Current rate here in Central VA is $2.84/gal. I have an account with AmeriGas. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to shop around to see what else is out there? I have a 500 gal in-ground tank at the house, and a pair of 100 gal above ground tanks for the shop that I rent from them. Might be a pain to switch...

I've had issues with Amerigas in the past but that may differ per region.

I just filled my 500 tank at 1.67 gal. In NH.

Another note from Western KY - we just got a fill-up for 1.19 gal. However, the places that I called were mostly between 1.40 and 1.70 - somebody at work told me about the place selling for 1.19, and you had to pre-pay to get that price as well.

I paid about $2.00/gal last year.

Pre-pay price for Sept 1 through the end of April is $1.499 per gallon - minimum 500 gals - leased tank. Last year was $2.03 per gallon. East-central Wisconsin.
