I buy from Superior Propane and I locked into pricing of 73 cents per litre until Aug 2015 , I got that price in late october 2014. Sault Ontario

3.09 to fill yesterday I got 66 gal at the rate I'm filling the garage tank I may just have to start sleeping in there. I researched the www. for propane pricing in Va. I came up on site that reports average retail prices are 2.81 per gallon for Virginia retail residences.

Quadeville is located 2 hours North West of Ottawa. 1 hour west of Renfrew or 1/2way between Renfrew and Bancroft. 25 miles South of Barry's bay lol. I get my propane from Mccarthy fuel out of Killaloe, Ont. With the price of gas going down propane should be following soon. Won't know till next year when I fill up again.

I am not surprised at the differences in propane prices from the States to Canada and then from coast to coasts. I still say someone is gouging us whether the oil companies or the suppliers. You look at the prices coming down compared to how fast they were going up. When the prices are up everything goes up but when they come down things stay the same. I still say it is all about profits and our government is in on it. We here in Canada pay over 45 cents if not more a litre in taxes. Take the taxes off and then we are really going to see a fair price but that will never happen. Greed

I call it the reality world of big industry control. People like you who believe that oil companies are not gouging us probably have money invested in that market. I do not see any other reason why you would side with them. just my opinion.

I started this thread over two years ago in an effort to find out what propane prices were in other parts of the country and Canada. I'd appreciate it if it wasn't closed due to a couple members arguing. There is a nice forum called "Friendly Politics" for that sort of discussion.

Gouging is a loaded term but take a look at this... the wholesale price of propane is declining while the retail price for residential propane is slightly increasing. Someone's doing very well on the increased spread.

My personal theory is that retail competition is being reduced so consumers are going to take it in the shorts while the dealers do very well. Around here, we are moving toward a Ferrelgas-Amerigas duopoly, as those bigger companies are quietly buying up the smaller dealers (and letting them keep their names so it's not as obvious).

I went geothermal this year so I'm out of the propane heat rat race. Which of course means that the price is going to drop this year

I also didn't see anything terrible in your posts.............and I can't blame anyone for complaining about how much the tax man grabs on fuel taxes and the price gouging when world prices are down............but back to propane.......the price I locked into this October was the same price I locked into last year so I was just happy that I had kept things the same.

$3.149 per gallon for 200 gallons, delivered 2 days ago. I don't own my tanks. Considering changing that.

How old are your rental tanks?

I started out renting my tank but my rental contract had a clause allowing me to buy the tank for an amount that declined every year. After a little bit over 10 years I pulled the trigger because by then the buyout price of my tank was less than the balance I had built up with the equal payment plan.

Cheapest way to buy a tank and it's already installed and certified, etc. ! The freedom saved me a lot of money over the last few years.

Tanks are only 3 years old with no clause to buy. I am not paying any explicit fees or rent for the tanks - just higher prices for their propane.

The propane delivery guy came by yesterday. Since Oct. 13, we've only used about 100 gallons. With a 500 gallon tank (400 actual capacity), it wasn't worth filling up at this time. I told him to come back in 4 months. Propane was $3.45/gallon yesterday! I hope it's a lot cheaper in the spring.

I credit our newly installed Englander 30-NC wood stove for our much lower usage this winter!
