We've got 20 ac in Louisville Kentucky. Some horse pasture, some woods, an occasional pond, effemeral streams, and a small house and shop. The barn I'm building is almost done. So many pictures, don't know where to begin. So much work, never a dull moment.

G-Force,

Your property is stunning! When I saw you were in Gaston I couldnt believe it....we live in Forest Grove, on Fern Hill and Im amazed that the other folks who have posted go from Australia, Ohio, Alabama, etc. Crazy!

We purchased our 6 acres 5 years ago, I purchased our used John Deere 790 almost 2 years ago and it's been priceless! My wife thought of a tractor as an expensive toy, but she has realized how invaluable it has been! We are a VERY project family (3 boys, 2 dogs) and love owning property and coming up w/ new ideas.

We have totally remodelled our home, added a 70'x20' aggregate patio w/ cedar pergola, built a 20'x20' shop inside the barn, constructed a 20'x40' garden w/ 8' deer fence, and just completed a tearing off the front part of our house to create a new entry way and extend the garage. I included a few pics of our property and using the tractor to demo the decking before the remodel. I also uploaded a pic of the excavation and fence posts before the garden was complete.

I look forward to sharing and tapping into the wealth of knowledge from the members on TBN....I'm a rookie when it comes to tractor ownership and have lots to learn!!!

This is my families second home away from home. It is in the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon, home of the Rocky Mountain Elk, Which by the way are always in the yard along with other 4 legged critters!:D Just got the first snow for the fall today, however it melted pretty fast. All around the house is green grass except for the parking area. My wife, 17 year old son and I have been building the house for the last 4 years. It is for the most part done. Still need to build a shed for the tractor. We spend most weekends and holidays here as it is only a half hour drive from our home. Not a lot of property, 2 acres, but its ours free and clear!

Included in the Google Earth pic are about 22 of our 32 acres. Our retirement project runs from the old stable on the right all the way across to the left and includes most of the tree-covered stuff inbetween. We acquired the bulk of the property at auction a couple years back. The log home was nearly complete...just needed to renew building permits, finish a couple plumbing vents, and build permanant stairs. We are slowly improving the land with the goal of building and running a children's home. Many details to be figured out between now and then but that's what adventure is all about. The children's home is my wife's long-held dream. She has followed my Air Force career around for 25 years so before long she becomes "boss" and I'm the handyman/grounds keeper.

40 acres... It is fun to look at Google Earth, then Microsofts Live, then the Clark County registrars website cause each site shows the progress we have made with our tractor. But in the grand scheme of things you guys would probably not notice what we do from those so why waste the bandwidth. Suffice it to say that tractor has taken our useable land from 3 acres to nearly twenty, and has built us a number of trails to boot.

So here are some google pix, some pix the wife insists on, some before and after work we did on the house this summer and a photo of how wrecked the property was when we bought it.

Pretty darn noble to do the childrens home. Lots of kids need that kind of support and what a cool place to do it. Good for you!!!

Thanks for the encouragement, woodlandfarms. Your "patch" appears to be coming along nicely. So far we are in the holding-our-own stage of improvement--amazing how much easier it is with the right tools. In our blackberry bush and poison ivy eradication campaign, we moved up from a DR Brush mower (still a darn handy machine) to the Kubota L4400 and assorted toys. Until we get there full time, we are primarily mowing the pasture, pulling old stumps, building a few trails and reclaiming tree lines. Eventually, we will refurb the stable and pasture, establish a small Christmas tree stand, open up access to the stream, and start some garden areas. Lots of fun ahead.
