Comparison Pros and Cons YM1700 and YM2000D

   / Pros and Cons YM1700 and YM2000D #31
I purchased my YM2000D with only 100 hrs on it 4 or 5 years ago. I believe it was a Vietnamese rebuild. This tractor has been extremely reliable and I find it very usefull for all kinds of things.
I can't say enough about it.
Once you've had four wheel drive you would not want to go wihtout it.

It looks like a real unmolested one. That is usuallly the original seat, not the kind that the vns come with and the stickers and colors look right, I beleive the vns are the wrong color red.

Thanks guys :)

I am trying to stick within a hundred miles (Hendersonville area) to make getting it home less of a hassle. I know that limits me. I did see an F20D over west of Knoxville, but it was out of my "circle." (Besides which Hoye says parts not so available for these series.)

Our local grey market dealer has a smaller (YM1500D) tractor with an FEL ($4900) but I want something with more oomph -- at least 20 -- better if 24 hp. May check a couple more dealers by phone, though my prices should be better in a private sale.

Question: When I go check one out, taking husband with me, what kind of smoke -- *if any* -- should I see?

Speaking of color -- all the ones I've seen have beem pretty much fire engine red. (Except -- the ? green ones on here.)

and DZEL -- were you sawing your own logs?

The only time you should see any smoke is when it first cranks up Blk. and should clear right up. When it throttles up Blk. not nearly as dark. and when it get bogged down or a heavey loaded. Here is a pic.of what my YM200 exhaust looks like under load to give you a good idea. Also look at the Air,Fuel and oil filters to see how clean they are and Radiator Fluid. If they are all new or clean that a good sign if Dirty Blk then most likely poor maint. If everything has just been replaced then look hard at the engine and trans. for leaks rust Ect. May want to look at a dealer VN or not at a recondition tractor to get a good idea. Have them crank it for you so you can hear what a fresh rebuild should sound like.Call around and get some dealer priceing but in Ga.well may be well worth the drive. Top Notch :)

Good advice. It's worth either waiting, or going further for a good machine. I bought a trailer, and drove 500 miles. Each way. Well worth it. Good luck!!

Going to Charlotte to check a 2000D out Sunday. I'll check back in with a report tomorrow night.

:)

Hubby has limits I have to work with ;-) (like not wanting to drive all over, or even halfway over, the Southeast looking at tractors because his wife wants/needs/desires one. )

If you can operate a Tractor I know you can drive. How does that go. Tell him to Get in sit down and shut the :ashamed:. Up. The wifey has done it to me :p
The Real Funny thing will be keeping him off of it when you do get one. I can honestly say I don't know to many guys that don't enjoy thier seat time. :D

In our family, the woman tells me what to do......and I do it. I suggest you exercise this prerogative and get your tractor!!!:D:D:D
