oh sorry my Phone app does not list locations i dont think nor do i pay much attention. I guess you dont have "tractor supply co" there!!!!

I am now on the computer so i see your UK.

We have auto stores here called Nappa, carquest, advanceauto..... they mainly sell auto parts but sell oils and things to and you can find them there for about the same price or about as cheap as anywhere. You need to find where the guys with tractors and bulldozer, backhoes buy thier parts and oil, they will ahve these buckets of the "universal Hydraulic fluid" that you need at a competitive price as they go through it fast. Had a logger a week or so ago have a hose bust on a pice of equiptment, before he found the problem he pumped out 50 gallons of hydro fluid, so had to put 10 buckets into that loader!!!

No problem, I'm really impressed with the amount of help I've been given and what I've managed to achieve on my 1610 in such a short space of time. Never worked on any type of vehicle before So pleased with the progress.I've just replaced the temp sensing unit which was very straight forward and now the gauge is working correctly.

Next job is the exhaust muffler assembly which will be the hardest job I'm sure as the bolts fastening it to the engine are totally rusted ! Th reason I'm replacing it is that the top pipe is so rusted and has detached from the main body and just rattles around when moving. I bought a replacement from Hoyes tractors which isn't the same as the original which is a little disappointing.

I'm heading over to a local town in the next day or so which is pretty much a farming community, so I'm sure I'll find a store or two with the right fluid at the right price !

Ouch !! That hose was sure expensive !!

I was thinking you can just cut your old pipe off and the new hour pipe will slip over it and clamp on?

Might want to start hitting those bolts with a good free all (wd40 or whatever).

Thats about what i have paid for some warren brand stuff. Thats rock bottom on the price, grab it if you need it in a year or 2.

Hi All,

I have owned my Yanmar YM1610 and constantly have a black oil type substance blowing out of the exhaust. Is this normal ? If the wind is blowing towards you when using the tractor you get covered in black spots ! The is no leak from the manifold gasket and the exhaust is not original, it is a replacement from Hoyes, howevere the original also shows signs of the same issue. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Paul

are you somehow getting water down the exhaust ? If so this would explain the black substance from the exhaust. If that's not the case. Possibly un burned fuel or blown head gasket. Are you loosing coolant from the radiator ?

The exhaust is capped so no water is getting in. Coolant in the radiator seems ok, not losing any fluid. I am a complete beginner when it comes to engines, but some fluid (very small amount) is coming through the top of the engine ( I assume is the head gasket). Quite often the engine does not stop when I push the throttle fully forward, is the un burned fuel ?

Could be just soot built up in your exhaust. Take the exhaust off and try to clean it out. It's worth a shot
