OH YEA , Winston is right again. MOve those vertical links that hook to the lower lift arms back to that open hole closer to the rear axle. You will loose some lift ability but for this it wont matter, you need those arms to drop lower.

If you were useing a heavy disk the way they are now may be a fine setup, as the thing has high attachment points and you need the lift ability.

Thanks Winston1 - yes, only the back of the grader touches the ground. Ok - So if I move the side links back to the spare holes on the lower lift arms (next to the bolts you can see on pic) then the linkage will be lower and therefore attach to the grader. Great, I'll give it a try as soon as I get home from work.

Try shortening the top link first, that may allow the front to come down to touch.

Well, the more I look at your picture the more unsure I am of what you have. I now believe the back of your grader probably pivots off the front and the chain in the picture is what limits its downward movement. If that is the case then go with my first suggestion. Just not sure what I am looking at. Sorry.

The grader or whatever is pictured there is not hooked up yet.

Yep, I can see that but cannot see the rear of the grader. I'm sort of thinking the rear of his grader is hinged off the front of it but just not enough picture to know.

Yea i have no idea what that is a picture of? I was picturing a rear blade, but think its more like one of those land plane things, but the more i look at it, i like you have no idea?

Kind of like a bush hog is called a bush hog, shredder, rotory mower, roughcut mower, brush hog, and on and on.

I've adjusted the lift arms and the grader now sits firmly flat on the ground when lowered, thanks for you're help.

This picture shows it more clearly. It is hinged and held at a right angle by the attached chain. Worked ok when dragging it around with only one bar touching the ground so should be great now I can use it correctly.

Never sat on a tractor before I bought my 1610 let alone worked on one ! I've now changed the air and oil filter, new oil, new voltage regulator, new indicator switch etc.

Only things left in the short term are transmission fluid change and temp sensor change.

Transmission fluid - John Deere dealer does not recognise JD303 so need to confirm the alternative, any ideas ?
Temp sensor - Finding it very difficult to remove as there isn't a lot of space.

Some of us use Walmarts Super Tech hydraulic/transmission fluid. Some use Tractor Supplys Traveler brand hydraulic fluid, Tractor Supply carries other brands. Any of those clearly marked hydraulic/transmission fluid will work.

Thinking your sensor is right on the side of the water pump. Should have good access. You might have to remove the engine side panel.

Thanks for the extra picture of your drag. That explains a lot. Sounds like things are going well.

Jd303 is an obsolete spec. Anything new they have for tractor/trans fluid will work. I personally would not spend what jd wants. I think closet to $100 for a bucket. Go to TSC and get traveller brand for $50 or less on sale. Any "universal tractor fluid" will say works with or compatible with jd303 on the back.

Thanks for the advice - John Deere local dealer wants 」72 ($110) for 20 litres of Hy Gard !! I'll find a cheaper alternative.

The sensor is on top (circled) so should be easy. I need to get an extension piece for a wrench and hopefully I can get it to turn.IMG-20130725-00319-1.jpg

Next job is then to fit a new exhaust muffler assembly. (No doubt will need help):)

oh sorry my Phone app does not list locations i dont think nor do i pay much attention. I guess you dont have "tractor supply co" there!!!!

I am now on the computer so i see your UK.

We have auto stores here called Nappa, carquest, advanceauto..... they mainly sell auto parts but sell oils and things to and you can find them there for about the same price or about as cheap as anywhere. You need to find where the guys with tractors and bulldozer, backhoes buy thier parts and oil, they will ahve these buckets of the "universal Hydraulic fluid" that you need at a competitive price as they go through it fast. Had a logger a week or so ago have a hose bust on a pice of equiptment, before he found the problem he pumped out 50 gallons of hydro fluid, so had to put 10 buckets into that loader!!!
