Hey all,

I was curious if anyone has any experience with Trunk Pumps.

I think $3K is a bit expensive, so does anyone know of any good alternatives?

I am not oppose to (re)learning how to weld and making one from scratch to save $$$. Best I can tell I would need the following:

- Self Priming Pump 2" suction (rated for 20HP)
- Reversing gear box (apperently water pumps spin counter clockwise)
- Much angle iron
- Cat. 1 3pt Blank
- Drive shaft

I am interested in the project because last spring my entire neighborhood flooded with the melting snow an one heavy rain. I am think I will be able to save myself and the neighbors some $$$. Two houses down had 5 feet of standing water for two weeks.

IMO...The trunk pumps are cool, but I think you would be better off getting a regular pump for $500 vs the $3k for a trunk pump...If you really wanted to move it with the tractor you could get a carryall for $120...

For under $700 you could have a 3 inch trash pump that will move the same amount of water.
I have used 6 inch and 8 inch pto pumps they really move the water but for small stuff I use electic 2 inch or rent a 4 inch at RSC.
