Folks,
I had to cut my PTO shafts ends on my chipper for it to fit on my newly acquired BX2230. Yesterday, taking advantage of HF's 25% sale, I purchased a 3pt Hitch Quick Attach.

I installed it this morning and attached my chipper (what a breeze!) and now the shaft is to short. Can I just replace the shaft parts or do I need to purchase an entirely new PTO shaft?

Thanks very much!

traded a Kubota B2650 to a Kubota L3901 which ended up making my drive shaft to short on the Rotary mower. Took the shaft to my Kubota dealer (Barlows) and told them I needed it stretched. Came back some days later and behold I had a longer drive shaft that then had to be cut off a bit. They have this new machine that will stretch drive shafts, said it was a really expensive machine. Or some would rather believe they took the end off one end of the drive shaft and removed to short section and installed a new center part of the shaft. Saved some money over buying an entire new longer drive shaft.
Always remember if you don't like my answers/posts there is a section where one can block someone on TBN and never see any of their posts again as I've done with a few over the years. :D

I ran into the same problem on my tiller. I bought the outer piece of tube from my dealer and took the old tube out of my yoke and installed the new one. Mine was to short even with the extender. Works fine now

Your pto shaft will have the inner and outer metal tubes made to be easily removed and replaced. A spring pin holds each tube to its respective yoke.

You might need at least one of the plastic shield pieces to be safe when done but this will be cheaper than a n complete new shaft and will have the shear bolt design the equipment manufacturer felt best to use.

looks like your question has been answered very well by the forum members.
might also keep in mind that in general, shaft problems can also be handled by a good drive line specialist.
