I'm more in the sympathetic camp, 'hate to hear of your breakages' kinda guy... but sure am curious how it happened.

You WILL break something when working equipment, sooner or later. It's a fact. It happens. Sometimes it takes months to get the story out, case in point is the L2850 I posted pictures of... it got broke in the fall, he brings it to me in the spring, 'hey, it needs a clutch, and the pto might be messed up... see what you can find.'

I found this...

Fun project.

I'm here for confession time.:) My guess is that something was really our of balance or the op turned to short with a heavy duty pto attached.
NOPE, but I will share when I fix it...

PTO shaft is in my possession, I just haven't had time to fix it.

DC you are absolutely correct but we all see the vultures circleing. I bet I can even predict some screen names. I think it was very smart of the OP to wait as to not derail the thread.

Sorry for the delay but work has been crazy busy.

Also, I just got off the phone with the dealer and ordered the stake but part# 35340-25320 which won't be in until at best the end of the week. I would if ordered it online myself but I couldn't find it with shipping cheap enough. $7.05 plus tax from dealer. Sooo it will still be a while before a reveal the stupidity involved in breaking off the stub.

Ken: I realize you have already dealt with getting your parts, but just for your (and others) information, we had good luck with Messick's. We are located at least an hours drive from any kubota dealer, so having things shipped is the most reasonable option for us, and they did a great job of making sure we got all the parts we needed for our project.

It was quite a pile of parts... $1200 here, case was $850 (used)

That is great to know. I was going to call them in the passed for something (fluids and filters I believe) but I just ran to the dealer (2 miles from my house). I will definitely keep them in mind as well though as its good to know reputable dealers. I forget the reason but u believed the shipping outweighed the taxes. I do try and price check items and the dealer is "usually" spot on.

If you have not pulled it apart yet I have done a few of these on slightly smaller tractors. I reverses one of them up two ramps to get the bum up as high as possible so I would not lose much oil. The other I parked noise first in a drain.

Well, I didn't think of that... Are you saying let gravity work for you?:)
