Is this what you are looking for?I know this is kind of an older post but after thinking about it an talking around here I thought I'd look into putting a slip clutch in line on my PTO shaft. Most appear to be mounted back near the rear of the PTO shaft and the gear box of the Bush Hog. MY PTO shaft attaches to the gear box (both of which have 6 splines) and is pinned together with a bolt and nut. Attn: This is not a shear pin as I mentioned it is splined and the bolt just holds then together. I would need to have a slip clutch with a male end a female end both having holes for a bolt. I don't seem be able to find such a critter. Do I need some sort of adapter or something? Thanks
The OP of this thread either has a finish mower or someone put a finish mower driveshaft on his mower. On a finish mower the belts serve as protection so both ends of the drive shaft are splined with no slip clutch or shear pin.
What isn't "PROPER" is having NO protection for striking immovable objects.
IF Bush Hog is sending out brush mowers with shafts that have no shear bolt or slip clutch I would be very interested in knowing why.
Hope you don't shear the PTO in your tractor due to having a wrong shaft.

The OP knows he needs a clutch, so why are you burning him?
Either help or move on.

Geeez, I’m trying to find a slip clutch. That is the purpose of my post. If you read my post I have never denied it would be wise if I had one so I’m not gambling I’m trying not to gamblerNot trying to "burn" anybody or start any argument. I'm just stating facts. If somebody wants to gamble the PTO on their tractor by saving a couple hundred bucks on a proper driveshaft then so be it.
Sorry I made an assumption on your equipment and offended you bones66. I stand by my statement you have the wrong shaft for a brush mower.

Even though if you look at the diagram you will see my exact PTO shaft. How can it be the wrong one??? Bush Hog put them on from the factory they have a part number etc.
He's just being a t****, can't help it.
I'm fairly sure you're not going to find that exact clutch anymore. Those parts are either outdated or discontinued. Best advice is what was suggested earlier. Figure out how to modify your current PTO to accept a clutch that's available. Or just buy an entire new PTO with clutch.
Maybe others can help GL either way.
