Nope, exactly opposite...If this is anything like our Cyclones shortening the front arm makes it more aggressive. Think of it as a box blade with an auger. Lengthen the top arm to make it less aggressive.

I expect you will love it. Folks that have never run one will make fun of it or say it cannot go through 3' of snow etc. In my line of work if I get in 3' of snow I have been fired. I run with the storm. I have found no downside to the inverted blowers. I think one bonus is that something follows the tractor better going forward than backing into something. I have had a few of each. No one likes change.
87" would that have been a Meteor?
The older style works just fine in your own yard and was used commercially for a long time. Less money than the hybrid and only real noticeable diffs are at each end of the run. I have had them and they worked great.WIFO WBPT84
They call it an 84" but with the bend on each side panel making wings it cuts an 87" swath.
Just a basic inverted not Hybrid, but it works really well with
20" auger and 27" x 10" Impeller.
It saves time doing the drives and parking areas versus old method of bucket forward and then plowing in reverse with the Gannon Box blade.
