Any ideas on how I can hitch a utility trailer to a BX2200? The hole on the back of the tractor is to low to mount a ball on. The trailer jack would drag and the trailer would be too tilted to use. Maybe some way to utilize the three point hitch? I looked at a draw bar this weekend but was worried it would twist and the trailer could come loose.

They make an attachment tthat goes with the draw bar that connects to the top link bracket. This will keep it stable. Lots of guys here have them.

There is an advertiser on here....I sometimes see the add rotated in....that sells a receiver hitch that bolts to a draw bar about $80.00 if I recall. Alot of other choices out there. Search under "receiver" at Northern Tool and their three point hitch comes up first, about $200.00 or request that Mad Referee send you his dethatcher plans and build one with a receiver tube that the dethatcher can slide into or a receiver hitch for moving trailers. His plan is quite good and talks about the receiver mod, probably around $100.

Kevin

You need a 2 inch receiver to 3pt hitch adapter - at least that's what I think they call them. I have seen these advertised here on tractorbynet as well as on Ebay. I ended up building one myself because none of the one's I saw was quite what I wanted. I have attached a picture....

Kpotts,

Go to the general forum area and click on the attachment forum. The second link should be the one for the EZmover hitch. Supposedly there is a special deal here at TBN which includes shipping. I bought a Bad River unit based on recomendations in some of the other forums, but they changed the design and I think the EZmover is equal to the Bad River unit. Once you figure in shipping its $20-$30 cheaper.

Make sure you use the chain to hold down the top link. You have no down force on the three point hitch and the hitch (and trailer tongue) could rise up if the tongue becomes unweighted. It happened to me once or twice when backing a trailer and a wheel hits an obstruction. Its easier for the tongue to head for the sky than push the wheel over the log.

It's not at all obvious to me how that might be attached to the drawbar. You don't have a picture of one installed do you?

I bought the hitch adapter from Bad River based on suggestions on this forum. It's well made and works perfectly.

I tow an (empty) horse trailer with about 400 pound tongue weight with my BX1500. I use two 50 pound weights on the front of the tractor to keep the front end from getting light.

Good Day:

I use a three point hitch trailer hitch to move my boat and utility trailer around. Works fine with one caution, the tongue has to have weight on it or it will come up as there is no downward pressure on the hitch. Watch bumps so that the tongue doesn't fly up.......don't ask me how I know.....trust me! Some lessons are learned the hard way!

I use a 6'' by 2.5 " 1/4" thick steel bar that I put a trailer ball on 1 end and drilled a hole in the other end so i can bolt it to either my BOLENS garden tractor or my Wards lawn tractor hitch to move my utility trailer around. With this gadget I don't need to use the BX 23 to move the trailer.
Only have 8 bucks in this gadget and that was for the ball!

on my bx-22 i mounted a frame class IV hitch from my old truck into my bucket.
drilled four holes and i can slip it in and out real quick. (my wife likes that).

if i need to cover the holes a piece of duct tape suffices.
i move my wood chipper, car carrier,3 small utility trailer's around all the time and did not want to bother removing the backhoe all the time.
then i can change to a pintle hitch,2",1 7/8 or whatever real quick just like on my truck.

i realize you do not have a backhoe and the weight up front may be an issue for you.
but it works out great for me just around my small 3 acres.
good luck
