Pulling out posts etc.

For shrubs, small trees, and posts under your lift height, a 4-n-1 bucket will do the same job. Just open it up, lower over the offender, close it and lift. Easier to do than say.

I can even get single-trunk trees up to about 15' into my 4-n-1 by turning hard and pushing on the tree with the side of the bucket to make it bend over and spring back up between the bucket jaws.

For removing T-posts, I just use FEL, no chain or anything. Approach T-post from side with studs and, with bucket level with ground, drive forward so that lower bucket edge is making contact with T-post close to the ground. While applying slight forward pressure with tractor curl bucket, which will catch one of the studs on T-post, and out pops the T-post.

Never done this, but an old head told me to put the chain or rope over a large truck rim and that upward pull pops them right out. Some day I'm gonna try that!!

after trying to pull some trees/shrubs one time, my fil suggested the tried and true farmers method. wrap a chain or rope low around the object, up and over a board (i use a 4' long 2" x 12" with a shallow v cut in the top) and pull with tractor/truck/whatever. it will come out so easy you won't know it's done. upward pull does it.

Here is a picture of a jaws type grabber, that looks easy to build.

JJ,
Good pic, and simple build for persons that have enough use for it.

Yep. Probably not more than $500 in material cost for that baby.

The truck rim is effective, if the rim wants to slide forward, just put a wrap on the rim before choking the post.

I have used the truck rim as well. We were moving a fence and needed to re-use the posts, so we didn't want to bend them when pulling them out. Set a truck rim next to the post, choked the post, then pulled horizontally with the winch on my truck. Kept'em straight.

If you need mechanical advantage, run a chain or rope over an old wheel.

Man, for four grand it is going to have to pull a LOT of posts.........

That is a rich man"s "toy", and appropriately priced as one.

A rich man would just hire it done. Looks like a contractors tool.
