Sounds like the police tried to go easy on him. They probably know the parents.
Good luck.

Yes, that is a problem with small town police forces.
One local LEO has 4 siblings so the LEO owes a lot of favors.

A friend lives across the street from a stop sign.
Jags, caddies BMW's rarely get ticketed and being privileged rarely even bother to stop.
Early AM workers driving older clunkers get tickets all the time.
That friend knowing LEO's hide there all the time always does a legal stop except one time they spread dry sand on hard blue ice.
Well that is like driving on marbles and so he slid 1/3 car length into intersection, result was $100 fine and points.

Really? Every PD I've ever heard of slaps luxury cars pretty hard, because they can afford it. It's not like LEO's are wealthy. I have never driven a luxury brand for that very reason.

We asked LEO to write speeding tickets in our private community inside the city. We already pay PD to patrol the area. The city prosecutor does not think there will be enough money in it to make it worth their time. They are willing to set up counters that will determine the traffic flow and speed of the cars to determine if enough tickets can be written to make it worth their time.

They wonder why people get upset over police abuse !

One of my co-workers lives in a small town in MA: population 2,886.

The COP showed up at a Town Meeting and said "We often get complaints about speeding on local roads. When we set up radar, 90% of the people we stop live in the town. So do you want us to give you all tickets, or do you just want to slow down?" ;)

LOL. I know that. All the speeders here are residents. This is more a spat between two women. Been going on for over 50 years. The speeding goes past my place and I do not see that it is that excessive.

ruffdog.

Do you know if the bank holding the note on the Jeep knows it is setting in a field and deteriorating?
May be able to get them to light a fire and get this resolved.

Problem is the luxury drivers are the local doctor, notary or other local that the LEO could get a favor from.

Don't care what you drive it's all about attitude! Most people talk them-self into a ticket where the would just get a warning.

Last update friends......the driver, step dad and his dad, real dad, good friends, and people from work came to get the jeep. They came with a skid steer, chains, plow truck, and other equipment. After they paid for the damage in cash, they plowed the snowed in drive, and used the SS down in the lower field. They used the SS w/chains on its wheels to pull the jeep to the last STEEP hill. We used their plow truck hooked to the SS to pull the jeep up with nothing to spare. The people were all nice and it only took 2 hours. Not bad for a 10 below cold day. The jeep was pushed onto a trailer and off they went. The young man is very lucky to have so many willing to help him.
