Punks trespass, property damage, cops want help getting abandoned jeep, need advice

Wisconsin most likely has some heavy liability requirements to register a vehicle. Here in N.Y. the minimum is $50,000 ( I think) so that should cover all the property damage the moron did to everyone's land. I wouldn't go near the Jeep. Sounds like the driver committed a crime trespassing all over the place, but being a victim gives you no legal right to retaliate. Find out who the insurance company is and have at it. Take lots of pictures, you should be made whole eventually.

Heck, who wants a Jeep anyway? They obviously have problems staying on the road! Now if it was a 4runner.....

That's when you take them to small claims court. The town will always deny a claim initially, unless it's real egregious, in which case they'll low-ball their first offer.

Dagnabbit ruff, wha' a mess. Here's wha' I know about this mess: nothing. But old...who is it in Kansas who has done this work before? That old boy seems to know about this. I just see a Jeep that has been abused and is going to waste. I've always wanted a Jeep. Not that knuckahaid's though.

Not trying to be argumentative, but I truly don't understand this. If you are driving while impaired (DUI) and hit someone, surely your insurance is going to pay the damages.
Driving under the influence is criminal conduct, isn't it?

I was hit by drunk driver back in the early 90's and their insurance paid.

Update: We are not going to follow some of the suggestions as they are legally improper but they gave me a laugh...thanks. It seems the driver has access to plenty of money very near him so paying for the damage won't be a problem unless the well went dry. We are working on some realistic estimates of fence repair, getting all the downed trees removed, stumps cut, and ruts filled. We are thinking of coming up with a price of pulling the vehicle out of there too. Yes, the prices might be slightly high, but some of the extra will be for the hassle and stress of something we didn't ask for. If it was my son that did this, I would pay the amount in a heart beat, get the vehicle home, and make him work it off. No...I'd have the son pulling those trees by HAND the long distance to the burn pile.

I'm not trying to be argumentative either -- I just quoted an item that may or may not apply to the OP's situation.
