Putting a pick-up bed on my F-550

You could paint it like I did my old Bronco...

1) Paint the truck brown
2) Run it through the mud
3) Paint the truck white (don't wash it first!)
4) Wash it
5) Colour sand it
6) Clear coat it
7) Prepare to tell everybody that you DID wash your truck today

A few years ago they had paint jobs like that, they called them SPLASH
I think I'm too old for that
Good idea though and it would work using mud as a mask then just wash it off

I think I'm too old too. I mean what ever happened to paint that just looks like flawless paint? Deep dark luster, so deep you can about swim in it?

Naw, today the "primer look" and the "Faux Rust" look are cool. Didn't we used to pull them junkers out of the fence row and wish we had good paint and no rust?

Now if you could air brush a crushed Honda across the front end and partially under the truck....

JB, the foot deep paint job is easy when you have something straight to start with, I have a 2002 work truck, maybe next truck will be straighter. Don't get me wrong it's not a junker, just not the glass paint job type of truck besides the cats would not like it if it was too slippy

Unfortunately, that was two marriages ago...ex-wives are a good way to lose things like that.

On the other hand, my van needs a paint job once winter goes away...hhhmmm...

Thats a coincidence, We had an anniversary Jan. 2 of this year, 37 years married and 39 together
Paint prices are crazy today with all the increases, fasten your sealbelt when you ask and try and not look too surprised when they tell you the price

I did a little rust repair on my van this past fall...thought to myself "This would be the right time to paint the whole van"...thought otherwise in a hurry. I really couldn't justify a $2000 paint job (materials only!) at the start of winter. Primer handles snow quite well, thakyouverymuch.

Remember that primer is porous and will hold moisture longer than a gloss paint. If you look at your vehicle when it's drying the primer will dry last, creating a longer lasting wet spot creating more rust.

I am very fortunate to have the wife I have and she does put up with allot we both do.
1 gallon of acrylic enamel with reducer and hardener is a little over $300. here and pretty good stuff and it will vary with color

There are some guys around here that have the lower part of the body (from the body line down) sprayed with Line X or Rhino, even the front and rear custom bumpers. A couple of them even have it colored to match the truck. I think it looks pretty good.

It doesn't matter what color or how you paint it. It's a one of a kind truck made by a one of a kind guy. Although, I think it would have been easier to put F-550 badges on a F-350 dually.

I am really wondering If all of this is worth all the trouble ?
from reading the other threads with my door sticker that says 17,500 GVWR and my 14,000 capacity trailer.. And we can register a truck for less that the stated weight..
I will register it for 9,999 pounds and keep my fingers crossed
9,999 +14,000 = less than 26,000 pounds
heck, it could be for sale real soon Shhh
