Question about a grapple

   / Question about a grapple #81
That is looking real good. I like what looks to be tabs for attaching the middle of the bar. All of the store bought ones that I have seen, just had the end plates. I think that the tabs are a good idea.

Alignment rod removed and shorter pins and clip installed in lift arms.

At this point we are still waiting for the cylinder to arrive from Northern Tool.

The modified center lift arm with wider pivot bushing and pivot/rear cylinder combination mount is also on it's way to us.

Stay tuned........... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jerry I thought those 3 tabs might really make the grapple a lot more secure on the bucket. So when I was picking up steel we grabbed a hunk of 2 X 12 X 1/2 inch to make all three.

Randall I told you we can make a real mess didn't I? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mike..... there are a couple of unanswered questions.... what did you do to Rose that she threw you out of the house at 4:30 AM? Also, why do you keep referring to "we" when you claim to be doing all this by yourself? Are you using additional laborers to accomplish some of the tasks that you are not man enough to do, such as carrying the steel and picking up after the messy barn? As for the teeth, now I know why the tooth fairy wouldn't bring you anything for them and why the wife won't kiss you....... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Junk around here most things are a team effort so I find myself using the word "we" quite a bit. We even spills over to personal projects. Also keep in mind that Andy has been keeping tabs on this project since we started. While I was working on the grapple last night he called me from Illinois to talk about the most recent changes that he made for us. I'm really, really impressed with his follow-up on this project. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Junkman

Seeing how he started out at 4:30 Am maybe WE is him and the Deer he got the picture of the other day. Who else would be out there at that time of day? If his shop floor wasn't so clean we might be able to spot some tracks

Mike is actually using the "royal" we, as he is really a relocated dictator from a south american country who is in the witness relocation program. They tried to get him to stop using the we as they were afraid it was going to give him away to the guys against whom he testified, and sure enough, they're on their way! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

yep those South American guys are in Perrys'ville now at my new shop, said that someone got wind of that grapple maker who helped clear out the rain forest down there! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I think I better come get that hole shooting match from him very very soon, just to prevent them from finding him of corse just thinking of mikes personal health & all! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

as for that CLEAN SHOP FLOOR I think there must be some HELP there with a broom maybe MRS mike? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I sure know if and when I'm working it never looks that clean before durring or after the project! lol

Found out the the center lift arm on the grapple was going to interfere with the center tooth on our tooth-bar so I took an angle grinder and cut the welds to remove the center tooth on the bar. Once the center lift arm is welded to the support tube I can then reposition the tooth an inch to the left or right to eliminate the interference.

The stout grapple cylinder arrived yesterday as we were visiting the Columbus, Ohio Power Show.

I wanted to post this picture for all you naysayers out there. You know the ones that think I'm running around in our pole barn with a broom and a dust pan and never getting anything messed up.

Anyway this picture shows the grapple support tube now attached to the side plates and removed from the bucket for some final welding and grinding.

I think this picture of my workbench might even make Junkman proud, right? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
