Question about a grapple

   / Question about a grapple #101
There are no update photos this morning, because Mike being the religous person that he is, stopped working at sundown Saturday and will not pick up a tool until sundown Sunday. Yes, this is a serious post. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ron this is a picture of the modification that we mentioned earlier on the toothbar. The center tooth needed to be moved slightly to the right so it wouldn't interfere with the center lift arm on the grapple.

I'm really getting antsy waiting for the center lift arm and rear pivot to show up. I'm expecting to see it tomorrow UPS. In the meantime I cut the two pieces of 2 X 2 X 1/4 inch square tube that will be used to tie all three lift arms together. Can't tack weld them together as of yet because both tubes will pass directly through the center lift arm.

Mike
I hope you get it done soon. You are tying up a lot of TBNer’s. Watching for this project to be completed. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I purchase most of our steel from a local supplier that buys large salvage lots for resale purposes. (Summit Equipment) I suspect that this load may have originally been intended for a company or person by that name as it was marked with a paint stick.

If Chesterfield comes looking for his steel later on he isn't going to recognize it once we get finished with it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The lower arm pictured is the center lift arm. It has cutouts to permit the 2 X 2 tubes to pass through it.

The bushing on the center lift arm is much longer than the outer arms to accommodate the width of the hydraulic cylinder that will attach to it. You can see the difference in the outer and center bushings in this picture.

At this point the business end of the grapple is removed by sliding out the alignment rod. It's not so heavy that it can't be easily lifted from the bucket.

YYSIUA = Yes, you screwed it up again

Seems we miscalculated on the length needed for the height on the center cylinder support. After close measurement we are a full 1-1/2 inches too short.

This means we have no choice but to cut another center pivot/cylinder support.

"This means we have no choice but to cut another center pivot/cylinder support. "

Bummer!
I guess you should have bought that plasma cutter after all!

PS. Why isn't this in the Build-it forum /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
