I subscribe to this magazine called Farm Show. They have a lot of great ideas that are born in the shops of some very talented farmers across the country. Here is a picture and description of a quick hitc a guy built using pintle hitches. Looks pretty neat. Similar to Pat's hitch.

It does look a lot like it. Also very close to Pat's Easy Change System.

I have been considering making the hitches for the extendable arms that you could take out the balls and slide the Easy Change in. Of course, the problem is it would have to be more brand and model specific. Just like the implement manufacturers, the tractor dealers all use different sizes for the arms. I have played with it around here and think it might work.

PATG if you need a test monkey I will take a set for a JD 6000 series cat 2. The only complaint I have with the current units is the added length it puts on the arms as it causes the top link to be short on some things. I refuse to use a longer top link as none are built a heavy as the OEM JD unit. The first thing I looked at when I got mine was to cut and weld onto the OEM draft links, but after looking at replacment cost I canned that idea. Your system is the only one that will work in my operation. We bale hay for the public and go from mowers to balers every day. I used quick hitches for ever. They did make hooking up to the mowers easy but would get into the pto shafts on the balers if you turned too short. I spent more time taking the QH on and off than I saved hooking up.

I just ordered a couple of sets of J hooks from Carter and Son LLC. These I will weld to the top of my lift arms as per another thread here on TBN. That will allow me to still use the balls if needed. I was thinking that I migh could put my old drawbar in the ball and use that to hold the arms spaced correctly when hooking up the quick hitch as long as it doesnt interfer with PTO or some other function.

I have to mention how well Jerome Carter worked with me on this. Since I wanted two sets and the PayPal would only let me order one at a time, Jerome agreed to refund my shipping cost on the second set. Even though PayPal only charged me half the cost of shipping that was listed on the website, Jerome still refunded me the 2nd shipping cost. You dont find many businesses like that now days.
Also when I placed the first order, I didnt notice the little button that allowed you to change the shipping address from the billing address. Jerome worked with me on that via email also and agreed to ship the whole order to the address that I wanted. TRY DOING THAT WITH SOME OTHER ONLINE OPERATIONS. CUDOS to Carter Welding.

I think maybe replying to a thread that has been dormant since circa 2004?Might be perceived as dredging.

I dont understand. ez has been a member since 07. the posting was o4. how could he have responded if here then.?I see what your saying but if one finds an old post , and replies, is that bad? I dont think so i never found this post before but liked that it was brought up again. I had never thought of a setup as the paper article showed, so 'rehashing' it was a plus in my book.

LOL, yep, checked the posting dates-right on!
Post was 2004 and answered in 2008, but then maybe I'd do the same.

Imagine this scenario if you would....

A guy who fabricates parts for tractors goes onto a message board where the primary discussion is about tractors, I mean these guys on here cover just about every aspect you could imagine. While there he searches to see what kind of comments have been made about products like the one he fabricates. Such comments may provide insight to improve his product. His search comes up with a design that he had not heard of before. Without paying ANY attention to the date stamp on the previous post he makes a simple comment about the design and how it would attach to a tractors lift arms....

Please let me apologize for reviving an old post. In the future I will be sure to take note of the date when the last post was made. I have not been a member for very long, so forgive me for not knowing proper TBN etiquette, how old can a post be and still be replied to?

It looks like gfd 703 may be happy the post was brought back to life, as it appears he is using it to try and work a set of prototypes out of PatG for free.:D

Kennyd that was very tacky! What about Pat's posting conduct? I've seen him what I would consider, promoting his product several times and nobody has said any thing about him. Looks to me like several people on this site has it in for Jerome.

Have to admit, every now and then I catch myself replying to an old thread not checking the date of last post. I guess if we only looked at the new threads, it is easy to see why there are so many of the same questions answered all the time.

If you check that post, I was just joining a previous post. I did not bring up my product, somebody else did. And in defense of Jerome, I answered yesterday and didn't even see the date on the original post until all of this was brought up. If somebody asks a question, I will answer and give my opinion. But just like everybody else, it is just my opinion.
