Don't the chains make for a bumpy ride on hard surfaces ?

We have a JD lawn tractor with Turfs on it of course. We have a Rotary broom for it, and it LOVES snow unless its the kind that gets packed down and greasy. The turfs do pretty well as long as you have a hard surface under the snow, and its not got ice on it.

Deadman,

Now imagine those turfs are 4 or 5 times the size of yours and weight 400lbs each filled with Calcium.

Chris

I think someone buying a tractor would read this whole forum and come to the conclusion that a4 are sliced bread. But as someone posted the guys using a4 are not doing any real field work or mud work. Probably clearing driveways and mowing, moving a little dirt. As far as snow (I don't get any by the way) I would think that chains on my turf tires would do just as good as chains on an r4. Both treads are going to pack up in one pass.

Me? I wanted turfs but new I would eventually get ags so there is no middle ground here. I actually put the turfs on in the middle of the summer. But if someone offered the right money...I'd probably sell them. I use the a1's more.

Rob

Nice pics Rob. Your mower is identical to the one I used when I mowed for the school district one summer. As I remember it was quite rugged and left a decent cut.

I don't need more weight, I've got a 1,200-1,500 LBS Ballast box already. :D

I just bought a JD 2520 with R4's and it has far less traction that my little 2210 had with Bar tires on it. These R4's are just absolutely useless, I'm hoping there is a reasonable solution to get me a set of Bar tires.....any suggestions? Rears only.

I have a BX2350 R4's.. Neighbor has BX2230, R1's... And Turfs I might add..

His and Mine got stuck in the same place...., Each, got stuck just one time, but I go everywhere he does... I don't think it's the R4's.. Bars would likely get stuck in the same place,,,, But you can't mow the grass with Bars....

My opinion and experience...

Phil
