RAD B74A Snowblower

Thanks. I'm going to try to build it. I will probably use 3/8 and double it up where they did. Deere parts and various pictures I have found on the web should give me pretty good idea what I need. If I fail I can always buy the brackets.

Do you think they would be hard to make? I have a pretty good machining ability. Dimensions and getting the correct geometry might be the hardest part. I think I have the black bracket figured out it's the two curved brackets that might give some trouble. Are they made of 5/16" material?

Chute rotators can be simple to make if you look at the two photos.

It is just a straight bar that can pivot in the middle with a hydraulic cylinder attached to the bar.

The mistake most home builders make is to attached the cable going around the chute to turn it to either end of the pivoting bar.

The chute is round and the path the ends of the pivoting bar makes do not follow a circle. By allowing the cables at either end of the pivoting bar to slip on the bar by running them around a smooth surface at either end of the bar and back to the frame of the snow blower, all is great and simple.

The stroke length of the surplus cylinder my friend had was too long so I just welded a piece of flat plate on the end of the pivoting bar to attach the end of the cylinder to.
