I have finished the concrete work around the perimeter of my barn. It is sloped under the doors out of the barn. I'll give the concrete a couple weeks to harden before I move fill in to finish the dirt area in the middle.

I don't understand. Are you going to leave the middle area dirt?

Yes Eddie,
I will grade it smooth and put in some road base. I don't want to be sweeping concrete all the time. :)

So I finally got around to putting up the gates on both sides of the barn.

I plan on getting the ground inside leveled out this weekend so I can get the gravel/road base in and compacted.
As you can see from the pictures the oats are coming up good. Supposed to rain a couple days this week which will really help out.

Thanks Eddie, the pasture is doing really good. But, it really needs some rain to continue doing well.

I was also going to say what a difference a few months make to the picture.

Beautiful barn and backdrop.

Thanks Kyle,

Weather man is saying we could have snow down to the bench level by Friday. ( small hill behind me ) I might see snow/sleet mix but I'll take anything I can get.

Thanks farmer,

Some of the higher mountains in Utah do have year round snow/ice. My home sits about 4500', so about another month and no more snow for me.
Odd thing is lots of people love the views I have, and I love the views they have- - -trees! I guess it's hard to find the perfect place. Although Alaska would be great if it wasn't for the long cold winters.

These pictures were taken June 29,2010 some of that snow stayed all year !!

I finished another mile stone on my barn. The floor is completely done.:)
I used Crusher Fines to finish it off. It is so nice to be rid of the dust. Here are some pics I took.

This last picture is my next project, getting a nice work bench. The barrels and plywood has to go.

Very nice, but pictures of your mountain view should be mandatory!

It really turned out nice. Might you build in a heated "office" or small workshop in it?

Love how much room you have in there!!!!!

Kyle, while I would love a heated work area there is no plan for that right now. (But I reserve the right to never say never.)

Eddie, I love how big it is. My wife is now a barn widow. Her words. I can sit and look out the south door up in the field all day.:)

Pretty as a post card.

I'm interested in just how far those mountain tops are away from you, and how high they are? Have you been to the top?

Tell your wife she won't be a barn widow when it gets cold again, unless the never say never part comes around. :)

The base of the mountains are only about 2 miles from my house. They are about 9,000 feet high. I have been close to the top with my ATV but it gets real steep and rocky with too many trees up high. Plus most of the top belongs to Kennecott copper mine.

I tell my wife if she'd just come out to the barn she wouldn't be a widow.:) Maybe when it gets warmer. I am going to build some kind of work bench and shelves in the corner where the barrels are. Right now my tools are spread between the big barn the little barn my big garage and the house garage. I never have the tools I need where I need them. Sometimes I cant even find them. So I want a place where I can put all of them.

So I have spread about 30 tons of gravel on the entry to the barn. Still need some more to finish the road but it's good enough for now.

I am also working on installing a Cupola. Here's a picture of the frame work. I want to put it on the roof to check for fit and such before building any more, but it's to windy today.
