Those vent windows makes a truck easy to get into if it is locked.

They also make it easy to get into when you lock your keys inside. But overall its no more a security risk than a Sliding Rear Window, which I also love.

Luckily on a stripper truck, there isnt much to steal.. Plus I live where I can still leave my truck doors unlocked without loosing much sleep.

I am glad I found this posting but I have to be a little pessimistic about this whole thing. I should be a proponent being that I own a VW diesel (06) and a GMC 2500 duramax (07 with vinyl floor and crank windows i might add and love it) but I feel like when the emissions standards started to change in 07 they just got too stringent and have only gotten worse. (for engine performance and efficiency that is) Also a diesel engine has gone from a high mpg, high power alternative fueled vehicle to a status symbol just like pickup trucks and SUVs have in general.

I have my car for the mileage(average 43mpg/gal) and my truck for hauling(mostly wood/brush and tractor to and from my side jobs doing tree removal)

I for one would love to see more diesel options here in the US but I feel like they will get snuffed out by the EPA and lack of sales due to less than stellar real world numbers.

I hope I'm wrong but I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm not. Time will tell

I applaud any company that brings a meaningful diesel option into the USA or Canadian market.

But really, it is just smart business. VW has been doing the same here in the car market for years - so long as there is demand, being the only the only player in town (or in this case country) is a nice position to hold.

I'm not what would be called a Chrysler fan, but truly do welcome this option to the market.

Sounds like GM may be moving in this direction, I'm hoping Ford qualifies their Duratorq's for use here sooner rather than later - I'd buy the new Ranger diesel in a heartbeat.

Keep 'em coming ! (insert smiley with fingers, toes crossed here <<<<<< )

Rgds, D.

Oh How I would love a 4.5L Babymax in a new GM 1500 Crew cab!! Build it please.

Well we treated our diesel the best we could. Changed oil only with Mobil 1

The egr valve let too much crap back in the engine. Spun the bearing in the number 2 cylinder and pit the piston into the head. On my dads jeep did it on the number 1 cylinder.

What I can tell you is this.... Chrysler never ordered a rebuild kit of any kind. You have to buy all parts individually. As soon as they declared bankruptcy they stopped ordering parts. I have had very little luck through their network to find any parts. Some piece meal but that's it. MV won't sell to me or my business.

The website posted has 2.4s for sale but not 2.8s that I saw. I have found a shop in england that I can order parts from. That's the best I have. Found. I am not perfect nor the best online searcher. If someone can help great my wife would send you homemade cookies forever!
