Thanks that would sure be a better choice
Eric - Once I receive the rake and test it out, I'll send you a PM. I don't mind at all if you want to see it for yourself.
.
Thanks Thavil - I appreciate the offer! I might jump the gun and just order it since it takes a couple of weeks - I could really use it soon....
JJ: Do you have one of these? If so, where have you been? The rake in the earlier days, was bolted to the lip of the bucket like this.
The second pictureis shows how the straps and chain are attached.
Got home late from work tonight and the rachet rake was waiting on my doorstep along with a box that has the straps and product information sheet. Ordered on Sunday and receive both on Wednesday! Also had an email from the inventor, Brad, that explained some of the concerns from this thread about the hydraulic cylinder when using this product. Below is part of what the email said:
Our product information sheet instructs the user to operate the bucket in a tilted position, but only when backdragging (the longer trailing teeth limit the shorter teeth from over penetrating. This allows the Ratchet Rake to be operated backwards in a smooth and uniform manner). Also, we instruct the user to limit the angle that the bucket should be tilted to 30-50 degrees (not 90 degrees with the hydraulic cylinders fully extended). Finally, in areas where large embedded rocks or debris may be present (that could force the machine to come to a sudden dead stop upon contact) we recommend a 2 mph speed limit.
I will not get a chance to try out the rachet rake tonight since we got a lot of rain today. I will say that it is very heavy duty. More to come tomorrow.
