This is for Eddie and Jinman:

I think it's cool, but I can't speak for Eddie.:D

That rattler was probably exhausted from swimming and wanted in that boat pretty bad. It might have had a little more fight if it was closer to shore and not so tired. Too bad they didn't have anything to use to catch the snake and take it to shore. If it finds another boat, those folks might not see it and the outcome could be lots different. I'd bet the snake would not head back to the water if it was set down on terra firma.:)

Snakes (cotton mouths) are the reason I don't fish out of a float tube anymore.:D:D

When I saw Jaws, I decided that swimming in the ocean wasn't for me anymore. Now that I've seen this, I'm not swimming in anything!!!!!

What the heck happens if you were out there swimminng?????

This is going to give me nightmares.

The snake goes the other way, or you do. Whichever critter panics first changes direction. :D :p :D

Is that before or after you ruin your pants?:eek:

It doesn't take a rattler to make me soil my BVDs. A harmless water snake will give me a start if I don't see it 'til it gets close. Luckily, I'm bigger and easier to see, so they are normally swimming the other direction when I see them.

Thats the nice thing about MI, only one poisonous snake, and you can't find them. No worries about swimming here.

I wonder what those two nimrods would do if they ever went fishing in gator country?

"Smack it with your pole, Earl. I wanna check out the tail on that thing."

I don't think so. :p

reminds me of a time when i was younger and fishing with my grandpa in the swamp. warm, quiet day and we were surrounded by cypress trees and shade doing a little bream fishing. all was calm and quiet until we heard a "plop". i was in the front of the boat, and my grandpa was in the back and we turned around at the same time to see what the plop sound was, only to find a water moccasin had decided to join us. fell right out of one of the trees into our boat! i dont know who went for the paddle faster, me or my grandpa, but he got ahold of it and picked up the snake and quickly gave him a good toss. needless to say, now i tend to look up every now and then while i'm fishing in trees in the swamp.

I'm with Eddie on this one not even pools seem safe.

Too bad ya gotta drill a hole in the ice to go swimming there, though!

I have two observations about that video:
1) The boat was way too slow.
2) The fishing pole was way too short.

ROFL!!
I hate snakes as well.
I started cleaning out the barn on the farm we bought after it had sat unused with a bunch of junk in it for 20-30 years. There was a thriving mouse population along with a couple of good sized rattlers that I "discovered". Spiked blood pressure that day for sure.

Yep, tastes just like chicken. ;)

Years ago, we had a guy at work bring some smoked rattler in and pass around samples. He didn't always mention exactly what it was. One of our more obnoxious female coworkers said how good it tasted and asked what it was. I told her, and she promptly threw up. :D

I don't think she ever spoke to me again.

I believe in the old "live and let live" saying! I don't try to eat any of them, and so far, not one of them has tried to eat me either! LOL!
