EPA is a bunch of morons and the reason i went away from diesel trucks after 25 years. From 89 up every diesel truck i bought got lower and lower fuel economy. Burn more fuel cleaner, Makes a lot of sense lol. And the maintenance costst on these "clean diesels" is off the charts.......

New California regs forcing trucks off the road - Washington Times

And, lest you forget, diesel emissions are hazardous to health and contribute to the deaths of many people with lung disease. I'm sure it would be easier if we just ignored such inconvenient truths and did things the easy way. Maybe where you live clean air and water aren't issues and if so you are lucky. As the VW diesel incident showed, fuel economy and emissions are not a one to one deal. To get their diesels to add three or four MPG, VW allowed them to put out 40 times the amount of pollutants. If you didn't catch that or understand the significance then maybe the EPA guys aren't the only morons.

"EPA is a bunch of morons"<<<<<and government funded, everyone that is concern with smog should sell their tractor, car, truck, shut their electricity off and start living like people did 200 years ago, only then does one earn the right to complain about smog. I dont like seeing pollution but if the tractor manufacturers are going to make these regen diesels then make them work right and or pay for the repairs.

Consensus from the regional LS guy is that the temps do not get hot enough to regen below 2,100 RPM. This means every 4 hours when this regens my tractor is unusable unless i'm bush hogging a big field as it will have to sit and regen. The new 31 series is a constant regen above 300* egt and is a fix for this issue. I guess i wait and see what their solution is. Send this thing to South Florida and i bet it will work just fine..................
That's what I was figuring you would find out.

May be a stupid question, I have a 3135 with only 15 hours on it so it hasn't done a regen yet, but why is it unuseable unless your bush hogging a big field? You can still use the tractor when its running above 2100 rpm. May be loud but still useable. Working during a regen should help bring the temp up I would think.

Not possible with a gear drive without ruining the clutch. Didn't want a hydro as it's a power eater mowing especially on hills.....

You won't ruin your clutch operating at 2000RPM or higher. These tractors with the DPF need to be run at higher RPM. It is nothing like the old diesel engine design. The engine needs to heat up in order to keep the exhaust clean. I drove mine around at lower RPMs for the first 30 hours and had a smoking/dash lights/regen issue. After I started running it at 2000+ rpm all the time, I had no more issues.

There you go boy's, he's an algore worshiper, no wonder!

I realize that the politicians and talking heads have made it seem like it's ok to be disrespectful to someone who disagrees with you. However, this is not how I was raised and I will be disappointed if that's the type of man my son's choose to be.

Hah. Tell that to your President.

I don't mind tough words. Better to have a thick skin and frank discussion than to waffle and be pseudopolite.

So where does the EPA figure in better air quality with less pollution with a "Regen" system.

An engine with a "Regen" system must run at much higher RPMs and burn more fuel to do so. So while a tractor is generating less pollution per gallon of fuel, it is burning more gallons of fuel to do so. Also more pollution is created while refineries are producing the additional fuel consumed. :confused3:

The EPA and government bureaucracy at it's finest.

The new engines run at a higher rpm but burn less fuel than the previous engines did. Running at rpm's less than recommended will cause the DPF to need a regen much too often. I run at 2000 till warmed up and 2600-2800 while working.

I run my XG3037 at 2100 to 2500 rpms when in regen mode and have had no issues.
