Rear mounted loader?

We have a budget of under $3K for the tractor.

Is this really 3K? if so I think it is totally unrealistic to be "in the market" for such a rare animal. If you can find any 40HP machine with a loader for 3 grand, you better be a good mechanic, cause it wont be running.

Not to be rude or discourage you but that is not enough money to get anything remotely reliable.

I made an attachment that allows me to put a loader bucket on the 3pt, but it's not a rear loader, just a bucket carrier.
This bucket cost $1,000 all by itself.

Yes I mean $3K.

We are in a very rural part of norther PA and old ford/case/international/massyfurg/ tractors around 40 hp are pretty easy to come by for around 2-3K.

They are not show pieces, they are old beat up tractors that do good farm work.

That is why I was pursueing the rear mounted loader, I assume they are less expensive. I have also found old loader buckets for a couple hundred $$?

Oh yeah you can get a great deal on 2 wheel drive tractors, maybe better now than any time in the past, due to the fact that everyone thinks they need 4X4, 2 wheel drives are selling for far less than they are worth.

Being in such a rural area isn't a benefit though, looking for a good deal on a used tractor. First off those machines will have seen much more work and maybe not as many people out buying brand new machines looking to replace them.

If you could expand your search to the more built up areas, that's where you'll find deals, the hobby owner that just dropped 30 grand on a new "toy" and needs to make room in his heated garage, so he's getting rid of his old machine that may not of seen much action.

The loader is still gonna be a problem, harder to find a decent machine with a loader. For sure it wont be easily removable if it's a front loader. and I doubt you'll find that rear loader on a tractor that you like, that's just to rare.

Have to get the tractor first and work on getting that rear 3pt loader later. if that one shown in the plans is what your looking for then you might have to go that route, and have someone build it for you. but that's gonna bust your budget :(

Good luck, JB.

If the loader is on the front or on the rear, the tractor will be the same length not removing the problem of manueverability. As stated earlier, I would rather have it on the front so you can see what is going on without turning around.

With the recent flood of gas leases a lot of career farmers have bought themselves new "toys" and are selling their old workhorses. It is crazy (in a good way) to see some of these people who have farmed thier whole lives with second had equipment out in the fields with brand new shinny New Hollands.

I will focus on getting the tractor first, and any info on the rear mounted loaders is greatly apprciated!!

lol, finally it is a reality! Looks like a trip bucket?

I found two others, still no prices on them. I actually found them in the archives of this board!

I like this one, still haven't found a price on it though. Contacted the company. It is gravity dumped though, not sure how I like that...

This one is a bit overkill for our purposes, but still a neat idea.

I have one of those 3pt dump buckets and I used it a lot to move dirt around. It is really handy if thats all you have, and cheap. Think I got mine at a farm sale.
I would think a regular bucket on the 3pt would be a real pain after awhile, always having to look backward. But, your budget is the issue here. Have you tried looking at Craigs List? I would think it would be better to try and fine a tractor with a loader then to try to find a loader later. You often have more outlay and the problems of matching up the loader to the tractor.
Have you tried looking at TractorHouse.com ?
