Without a doubt use the bolt until it comes loose. Or risk damaging the Threads??? Your not going to do anything to the bolt. Mine was Org. and the Hub has never been replaced or removed. It popped loose with only a couple taps on the puller. Once you get past the Hub the Seal Housing is just 4 bolts and the seal. Your need to replace the gasket. I just used gasket paper for a new one. Then your see what you dealing with on the Seal Collar.;)

I know you said you did not replace your seal collar, due to your condition. But if i were going to replace it, im gonna order it. Do you think it would just drive out like a bearing race would.

I know this is a bunch of questions, but i find if i know what im doing a job goes 3x faster, than if i just dissasemble stuff till i figure it out.

I ordered one:) just didn't use it for what was involved to replace it at the time. I was on the 2000 today and was looking for it to leak. Sure enough may be a drip or two when I parked it.

I wiped mine last yesterday afternoon, and the tire till it was not "{wet" with oil. Today after church and going on the boat, i looked at it and it was just as wet. Pool in the lip on the rim and then overflowed and drooling down the tire. I dont see it drip but its going pretty good i guess.

Your have to wait until you get it apart and see if the collar is bad. You shouldn't damage the seal if you do have to go back into it and replace the collar if you still have a leak. Your have a good idea after seeing it what your need to remove it. PITA. Yep!!!

Got the hub pulled, carrier removed and the seal out. My colar is pitted and worn but i have no idea how to get it off? It appears to be pressed on.

A tip for those dont think like me the fluid would only be a little up the axle and after maybe a gallon it will be done. You better drain it all, it took almost 2 gallons before the axle stopped draining. I was planning on changing fluid anyway, but it would of been way easier to drain it out of the plug!

Back to the collar and the outside bearing. Say i wanted to change that bearing, how do you get it out? Do i pull the axle tube off and then can i knock them off, or pull the circlips at that point then press them off the shaft? Looking at the hoyes site, looks like the tube may slide off, then you pull a circlip to get the sale shaft out, then you can press the axle out of the bearings? This appears to be how the collar woul have to be removed? Oh whatever they sealed the carrier on with looks like a combination of a paper gasket, some glue and silicone???

And some pics, as it did happen.

I think the 2000 and the 1900 are pretty close in the way the bearings come out. Here's some pics of mine when I changed the bearings and seal.
The piece of pipe was used to push the new bearing back in.

Clemsonfor, I can't view your pictures. Maybe because I don't know how. Message comes up "Invalid attachment specified".

Would seem to me the best way to change that sleeve is to remove the axle housing as Gary did. I'm not sure you would have to have a press to do the job. I'm sure it might make it easier. My experience would lead me to believe the bearings will not be that tight fitting. The sleeve probably is. Looks to me like the shaft with bearing would tap out of the axle housing once removed. Then you could use your puller to remove the outer bearing and sleeve.

Normally, a sleeve like that without an o-ring seal would be a shrink fit. Reason being it would leak if not. The parts drawing does not show an o-ring. If you determine to remove it take a chisel and hammer and whack it good. It would most likely help to loosen it for easier removal.

As you know I haven't been there done that, just surmising in my mind how it all goes together. Carey and Gary are the ones to really listen too.

I pulled out the service manual. To get the axle off i need to pull the PTO unit. There is a bolt that retains the axle to the axle gear. you remove that 1 bolt from the inside then the bolts on the axle tube. It appears the whole assembly then comes off like gary shows. Then i think you would need a press to push the shaft with the bearings on it out of the tube, along with the ring once it was heated?

The pics were showing up as thumbs in the thread last night after i got out and then back into it after posting?? Ill mess with it today when i get time.
