Reduce pressure to thumb (bends pivot pin)

Thumb retract never encounters any force thus not a drop will ever pass thru the relief valve except at full retract. No problems in the retract direction. Am I looking at this wrong?

Bukitcase, excellent info. I knew there was some kind of fitting witchcraft but I couldn't remember what. It does surprise me the type of Kubota fittings could be such a secret. Will study the info carefully.

Sodo, the Kubota fittings I run into at work are just regular JIC on their factory hoses......and all on my B2320 are too

Loaders and backhoe attachments built here in the US will be JIC, but the KX41 is likely built all in Japan and will be metric.

It's an optical illusion. There is 90deg fitting superimposed on top of the other line so it looks like is plummed in a circle. Look at the picture again and you can just make out the lower line on the right.

I know I’m bringing an old thread up, but why wouldn’t you route the relief directly to the retract side? That is what a double relief valve does, it routes the high pressure to the low pressure side. In the thumb case, routing the overpressure to retract would serve to aid the cylinder retraction, thus preventing damage.

In theory it would work but the retract side of the cylinder has less displacement...... if the extend side sees too much pressure and dumps to the retract side the pressure intensifies even greater because of the smaller area. It could cause the gland head seal failure or worse gland blow out. Returning excess pressure to tank is preferred.
