I agree with Normde...the green will always want to show through especially around the grease. I tried this an implement and it looked great for about 6 mo then it was a mess ...I then had to do it right.
I worked in auto body repair for almost 20 years, I think I will have good luck.Unless you plan on stripping, cleaning, priming, painting each and every piece on the chassis, engine, and frame, I would forget about changing to black and just touch up the green, otherwise you could end up with a big mess.
Cary those are interesting bearing caps on the front. Are yours held on bly 3 bolts? Mine appear to be the tap on kind. Tell me what you have on your front bearing caps or take a straight on pic of the for me!
I believe Carey has the heavy duty frt axle option, Wish mine had it. I think Carey you have tapered roller bearings instead of the ball bearings like my 2000 has, which I already had to replace. Finally got out today Clemsonfor. Interesting never noticed the difference until seeing shawnjvl's pic. Here you go.You can see I was in them when I bought it.Figured a mid 70's Model I needed to see if they needed Repacked. Nope there sealed FWIW
