I need to replace the windshield in the truck and the wife needs to replace her vehicles windshield as well. Course, it has been this way for quite a few years.

Insurance agent said to take it to a repair place and it would be no cost. Pretty sure it was Safelite. We just have not had the time.
... Last one was on my brand new subaru, took a rock less than a month old. ...
Last summer we took a trip to Ireland and rented a car. Car rentals in Ireland are a rip off and some of the worst in the world. Car rental insurance is worse and a huge scam. Insurance more than doubled the cost of the car rental.

We knew we were going to be driving some rural single lane "roads" so we took all of the insurance we could get. The roads have a reputation for being bad and hitting a pot hole and bending a wheel was a concern. We took that insurance too. To be fair, I did not think the roads where that bad and we were on some VERY rural roads. When you are racing a sheep down the road you are kinda out there.:laughing::laughing:
We had also read about the roads "melting" in the heat. Ireland gets hot? You gotta be kidding.:laughing::laughing: While we were there they had a drought and a heat wave! It was up to 84 on some days!

We loved it, thought it was a tad warm but the locals were feeling it. What was worse was the roads. They DID melt! Never seen that before. They most use some real cheap tar is all we could figure. We were sliding around in the tar on one hill but figured we had insurance so no biggy.
Anywho, an
hour after leaving the airport we were driving down a road that was being resurfaced. They were putting down the tar and then spreading rocks on top. I have seen this in the US but not often. They had signs up showing a truck throwing rock right and left and that is exactly what happened. A truck going in the other direction threw a stone and cracked the windshield.

 Glad we had the rental insurance. They just looked at the crack, marked it down and moved on when we returned the car. Surprisingly, we did not have any scratches in spite of the narrow lanes, bushes growing into the road and having to dive to the side to let other cars pass.
Even though the rock and tar treatment was the source of the window crack, the interface between the rock and tar and the asphalt was SMOOOTH. They did a great job and we went through a number of those areas. The locals all complained about the roads, and there were some bad spots, but not many and really not that bad. Seen far worse in NC.
