Restaurants adding fees

I have lived in states where the LCB from opposing states monitor local liquor shops for out of state buyers then stop the buyers when they cross back into their home state.

Ha! That's almost as bad as the "Revenuers" checking fuel filters on diesel trucks driven to a farm auction. (Looking for red dye)

I wasn't around at the time, but I'd imagine there were plenty of crabby old farts who complained when self-service supermarkets came along in the 1930s. Imagine the indignity of having to take a can of beans off the shelf yourself, I expect to be waited on! :ROFLMAO: 🙃 :D

I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've been asked to show a receipt on the way out of a store. I know Sam's club used to do that, but it's been 20+ years since I've been in one of them.

What do you drive that you can refuel in 30 seconds? I can't even refill my lawnmower that fast. No idea what the 45 minutes you're referring to is. If it's using a self-checkout, you're obviously not clear on the concept. It isn't that difficult.

Never heard of that. Then again, I'm always emphasizing "NO ICE!" in my drink. It's cold already. I'm not paying soda prices for a glassful of ice cubes. 🤬
Years ago, I bought an iced coffee drink at Dunkin Donuts, asked for no ice. they only filled the cup 3/4.

In this case the state line divides Texarkana.

I could see myself telling them that their ****** coffee is too precious for me to drink, pouring it down a drain or planterpot, then walking out. The minor traumatization of the employee would hopefully get them to think twice about ever doing that again, or even working there anymore!

Curious how one makes iced coffee without ice???

I don't drink coffee. Wouldn't that be just coffee? Does iced coffee cost more than coffee?

I don't know the cost. I'm always with my wife, Dunkin addict, and she takes care of on her phone. I always though it was cold brewed and poured over ice, I could be wrong. I rarely drink coffee anyway, as caffeine sets me off unless I'm chillin.

N.H. liquor prices are lower than any of our neighboring states, and the state conveniently locates liquor stores (they're state-run) for maximum convenience to out-of-staters (plus no sales tax here). :ROFLMAO:
Mass. will periodically station state troopers across the street from these stores, take down plate #s of Mass. residents shopping there and radio them to a colleague on their side of the state line. Apparently there's enough revenue loss to these states to make this a worthwhile venture.
I don't know if Vt. or Maine play the same game. Probably not Vt. if for no reason other than there isn't enough population density on their side of the river to be worth it. Apparently they DO enforce other purchases made here and require residents to pay Vt. sales tax on them.

Don't drink coffee, but I don't ever recall running into that with a restaurant fountain drink. Occasionally they'll "forget" and put ice in it, but never give me a hard time when I send it back. Not paying full price for a glass that's only 30% soda and the rest ice. Never really got the thing about ice in a fountain drink anyway, it's generally cold enough for me right out of the spout, but apparently I'm in the minority.

When I lived in CT, we'd occasionally do runs to NH for much better prices, usually if we were driving through or nearby for whatever reason. It was always thought that there was a limit how much you could legally buy and take home. Since we were only buying a few cases of beer and a couple of handles, we never had issues. I'd imaging a pickup truck load would raise a red flag though.
