I think more times than not members have the mowing and tasks that a SCUT will take care of BUT a designated mower that is designed for the job is valuable in a couple of ways, it will keep the weekly mowing hours off of the more costly SCUT and you will have the right machine for the job.. My brother is buying the new Mower RC mentioned with the locker, he also has a hilly 2 acres to mow..

Nothing really positive to add here except to say, hot dang, those 1025r prices are insane. You could get a 40HP Kioti for less than that, whose loader could lift twice as much, and still have enough left over to buy a quality riding mower.

So you can buy a 40 HP Kioti cheaper than 23K setup like this??

1025r: +120r loader, 60 mmm, box blade, tiller, rotary cutter, imatch, rimguard filled tires came in at 23k.

I think not..

Yeah, the implements add a lot to the cost and he has a lot of them.

I started out with just a riding mower, and then a better riding mower, and they got the heck beat out of them at my place, they just don't hold up like a tractor does. Maybe if you have a lot of flat smooth yard but not at my place. That and a few near suicidal runs down a hill with the rear tires sliding got me into a tractor with front wheel assist.

I said I got a 2025R for about 21k but I didn't get a rotary cutter, a imatch, box blade or a tiller. That's several thousand dollars worth of stuff.

I guess my concern is the hills. The pictures may not look steep but they are and there are 2 spots in particular that really are best mowed sideways at 30+ degrees possibly as much as 36 degrees! Can a 3000 zero turn mow that? The only zero turn I致e seen pull it off was a real experienced guy on a Ferris 3200z...

Which would you recommend?

I'd recommend goats.

Ain't no way I'm runnin' sideways across that kind of slope. Straight up and down ... yes.

Thank you for the 澱eautiful lawn comment :)

I can't really help with this particular issue, my property is hilly, but not as much as yours. I have to pick my days with the zero turn, if it's wet, I'm gonna slip and tear up the lawn. Thing is though, if I run my small tractor with R4's across it, it tears it up even worse! I'm not sure there's a good answer to "hills+wet lawn", at least not one I've found. In the dry, my zero turn holds on pretty darn good (and it's a cheap one, I'm sure a better one would do even more). Never had any trouble with power, it's all traction that's the issue.

I think I probably could. Maybe you couldn't. :p

Sorry to just stir the pot. But since you asked!

CK4010 - $19k or $18k if you shop around and bargain hard. With 4030 loader.
Instead of a 60mmm, head to craigslist for a 60 or 72" rear finish mower - $800
Same for the box blade and rotary cutter, no reason to buy those new. $500 apiece for decent ones.
Filled tires (why even do this on a 1025? the tire is so small....) - $500
The tiller is the tricky one! Used, maybe $2k, new is what, 3.5 ?

So we're right around the same $23k price point for a MUCH more capable machine. Just sayin'.

Well it’s the hills that are the issue here. I’ve gone and got better quotes on the sub compacts since my first post but if you take off the Midmount mower it completely changes even the reason to get a sub compact in the first place. In fact I think I’d be best going with a pure mower for 3-5k and eventually getting a larger compact tractor like a 3 series Deere or something like that.

I’m now currently looking for. 2018 model Husqvarna ts354xd, since the new model this year dropped the Kawasaki for a Briggs engine :(

Anything else with a k66 or better locking rear differential, good engine, at least a 54” deck for 4k$??????

Sounds like a good plan to me..

If you don't mind a drive to Bulter Pa, the dealer that I traveled to to buy my 2018 TS354XD Kawasaki/K66 had 2 more in crates yet. I doubt they will be there long.
