Rim Guard printed on tire

Anyone know what that is for. On my rear tires, embossed twice on the tire it says rim guard along with arrows pointing towards the tire bead.

Sounds like you have the R4 tires, they are molded so the sidewall is flush with the outer edge of the rim therefore leaving none of the rim edge sticking out past the tire, keeps the rim from catching on rocks and stumps.

Thanks Milkman, Makes perfect sence now. Never noticed but the rubber tire does extend out beyond the wheel rim thus protecting the rim (Rim Guard)

Looks like it's suggesting rim guard to fill the tires with.

BFGoodrich has a line of Mud Terrain , All Terrain light truck tires and High Performance tires that have a rim guard like that. I always thought it was to protect those shiny rims form damage when the get them put on the rim.
