Hi all,
I've got a Danuser G20/40 PHD with the hydraulic downforce kit mounted on a NH TC30 and I'm looking for a rock bit. The soil on my property ranges from packed soil that goes down several feet at the bottom of the hill to (what some have called - I don't know if that's the right word) caliche just below the surface at the top of the hill. I can break up the caliche with a box blade or a mattock without much effort, but my normal auger binds up on the rocks.
I've found four makers that make a rock bits that have 2" round collars to match my PHD: Danuser, Belltec, Pengo, and Lowe. Any thoughts on these brands? Did I miss any?
Also, how well do rock bits work in non-rocky areas? I'd rather not have to buy a second auger of the same size.
Finally, what size auger would be best for mostly 4x4s, but with the possibility of a 6x6? I've seen both 9" and 12" recommended in this forum.
Thanks!
