soundguy, as for the ford 8000 mine has been pretty trouble free with the exception of the power steering pump going, it was gona be over 800 bucks for a reman one so that got modified, put a blockoff plate where it was gear driven off the engine and belt drove a for pickup pump. has worked ok so far. the gradall has all that electric over air stuff like ya mention. my boss who used to work for a company that had alot of gradalls told me 99 percent of the electric control problems gradalls have are from the big contact drum that all the power flows thru in the center pin, he said at the beginning off the season they always cleaned them with emery paper and they were pretty trouble free but if they didnt do that once a year they had troubles. interestingly enough thats how this machine got rolled, it wouldnt shift into forward and they went to pull it with another machine and it came unhooked and rolled off a bank so luckly no one was in it when it happened.

It DOES look as though you'll be kept busy for a while, but what a great project you'll have to do.

I'm sure it's going to be fine when you get through with it, and you'll probably have a bunch less in it compared to buying one that will be in the same eventual shape as when you're done.

Please do post pictures of your journey.

yea i figure i should be ahead of the game in the end since the local dealer tells me that its about a 10 to 15 thousand dollar machine if it wernt for the rollover damage. i have seen a few in different adds online that are in about that range, altho most have more hours than this one which has just a bit over 6000 hours

Only problem with that machine is they were not a lot of them made If I remember right our dealership only had about 3 or 4 out and we are #1 or #2 dealer for the eastern us makes parts a little harder to find sometimes

hmm not good to hear, my boss used to be a supervisor for O&G industries and he said they had a few of them at one time and realy liked them for the most part but i realy cant say i have seen any others like it around. it appears that its all pretty basic component parts, alot of truck type air valves and solenoids, clark drivetrain, detroit engine. so from my view it seemed pretty good parts wise but maybe im wrong. but i suppose either way for free its hard to lose out on this one, atleast i hope so! since you were involved in a gradall dealership, any particular things to watch out for on this machine, ie places cracks form, things not to do, or to make sure to do! thanks
